Attacks have no [[Spell Speed]] and do not use a [[chain]]<ref>[http://yugioh.faq.konami.jp/EokpControl?&lang=en&tid=15665&event=FE0006 Konami FAQ]</ref>. You cannot chain to an attack, but you can [[respond]] to it.
In the anime, when a player declares an attack, the monster literally attacks the attack target. In most cases the weaker monster will just stand still while the other one destroys it, sometimes it will try to fight back, but will obviously loseunless the player somehow makes it stronger. Some attacks are also given [[Attack name|names]].
