because of the errata, "Darkness Approaches" can no longer change a monster to face-down Attack Position
A monster's battle position can be changed in one of two ways: manually or by card effect.
A manual battle position change can only be performed when the During an open game state is open during your in the Main Phase. It is done by changing , the turn player can manually change the battle position of 1 any individual monster you they control. Each monster's battle position can only be changed manually once per turn.
Each If a monster'is Summoned, Normal Set, or declares an attack (even if the attack was negated or cancelled due to a replay), it cannot manually change its battle position can only be changed manually twice per for the rest of that turn. If a monster battles due to a card effect that turnconducts damage calculationwithout declaring an attack, it can still change its battle position afterwards.
If a monster has been You cannot change monsters to Summonface-downed, Normal SetAttack Position, or declared an neither manually nor by a card effect. Face-down attackDefense Position, you cannot after that change its battle position manually during the same turn (even if the attack was monsters are always negateflipd or cancelled due ped when changed to Attack Position. If a monster is manually changed from face-down Defense Position to face-up Attack Position, it is replayFlip Summoned (which is both a Summon and a battle position change).
You cannot change monsters to face-down Attack Position whether manually or by a card effect.note Face-down Defense Position monsters are always flipped when changed to Attack Position. This change is called a Flip Summon when it's done manually. Card effects that prevent monsters from changing battle positions only prevent them from changing their battle positions manually, but can still be affected by other card effects that change their battle positions. The only exception is (except "Raging Cloudian". ==Notes==noteExcept with the effect of "Darkness Approaches")—their battle positions can still be changed by card effects.
