- Use Exchange if you know that your opponent is using an Exodia Deck, taking their Exodia pieces, so they cannot win the duel. Also use this card when you know your opponent has a strong card in his/her hand.
- If you know some of your opponent's strong cards, use "Dark Designator" so your opponent will have a strong card in their hand. After that use Exchange to take that card and use it. Yami Bakura used this strategy.
- This card fits nicely in a Side Deck, just in case your opponent plays a Deck similar to yours (i.e. If you play a Lightsworns Deck, you can steal his/her Judgment Dragon or any lightsworn monster/support and give a Wulf, Lightsworn Beast, or any other Card. If you Play Tele-DAD, you can take your opponent's Dark Armed Dragon, Emergency Teleport, Destiny Draw, Etc., and give to Him/Her a card with little use).
- Consider this card in place of Mind Crush; although your opponent will not lose hand advantage, it allows you to both see your opponent's hand, and take away a potentially dangerous card.
- Use this card in a Spirit monsters deck, even if your opponent summons one of your strong spirit monster, it will return to your hand and this action will leave him without a monster to protect his Life points.
- Before playing this card, set every card in your hand that could be potentially useful to your opponent so that they don't get anything useful. Try to leave them with a card that is specific to your deck, along the lines of Power Capsule.
- Set card destruction and monster reborn on the field, then use exchange to give them a strong monster like blue eyes white dragon for example. Then to take a card you can use or set this turn. Then use card destruction to get rid of the blue eyes they have and use monster reborn to get it back on your side of the feild giving your to not have to sacrifice for blue eyes and have a good card set or in use.So its a win win!
