- The name "Ruby Carbuncle" is a double pun, since Carbuncle is also a type of gemstone, as well as a mythical creature, alleged to be seen in Latin America. Legends say the Carbuncle has some sort of jewel on its head.
- "Crystal Beast Ruby Carbuncle" appears in the artwork of "Crystal Flash", "Golden Rule", "Rainbow Path" and "Trap Strap".
- This card is the "Crystal Beast" counterpart of "Advanced Crystal Beast Ruby Carbuncle".
