I think it's more likely 'Kanan' was simply a name; 'Kanan' means many things in many languages, and I think this is just stretching it.

* "Kanan" is a word in Indonesian, Malay, Tagalog, and Old Javanese that means "right" (as in the direction). * Her name could also be translated as "Canan" which is a Turkish female name that means "beloved" in Turkish. Alternatively, her name could also refer to the Hawaiian female name "Kanani", which means "the beauty" in Hawaiian. * This card was the most expensive Normal Monster in the TCG, due to being printed only as one of the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2003 prize cards. It was eventually reprinted in Legendary Collection 3: Yugi's World Mega Pack.** This is also the most expensive Normal Monster in the OCG, with the Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters National Tournament prints of the card selling for over a ¥100,000.
* The part of her flavor text which states "She floats lightly and stings sharply" could be a reference to Muhammad Ali's famous quote describing his fighting style, "Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee".
* This monster appears in the artwork of "Power Parasite".
