  • This monster resembles Cerberus, the legendary three-headed dog that guards the Underworld in Greek mythology.
  • This card is named after Sirius, the brightest star of the night sky, and a part of the Canis Major or Greater Dog constellation. Sirius is also the dog companion of the huntsman Orion of Greek mythology.
    • The Japanese spelling of "Sirius" is based on its Greek spelling, "Seirios".
    • The Chinese name for Sirius is Tiānlángxīng (天狼星 "heavenly wolf star"), which is similar to the first part of this card's Japanese name, "Heavenly Wolf Lord" (天狼王 Tenrō'ō).
    • This card's effect activation upon being destroyed and sent to the Graveyard is a reference to the Pawnee creation myth, in which the wolf (represented by the Wolf Star, Sirius) was the first creature to experience death.
