"Koa'ki Meiru", Japanese for "Core Chimail" (コアキメイル Koakimeiru), a combination of the words "Core", "Chimera" and "Mail"), sometimes romanized as "Core Chimair" (a combination of the words "Core" and "Chimera,") is an archetype of cards primary from debuted in Raging Battle, Ancient Prophecy, Stardust Overdrive, Absolute Powerforce and The Shining Darkness. This archetype received more Anti-Meta support cards in later sets Starstrike Blast, Primal Origin and Secrets of Eternity.==Lore==The majority of their effects center around manipulating the "Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru" or revealing one in your hand to activate an effect. Almost all of the monsters require a maintenance cost in the form of sending an Iron Core to the Graveyard or revealing a monster of the same type. There are exceptions, such as that of "Koa'ki Meiru Powerhand", where you must reveal a Normal Trap Card, "Koa'ki Meiru Valafar", where you must send "Iron Core of Koa'Ki Meiru" and cannot reveal any
According to "Iron Core Specimen Lab", "Kozaky" and "Magical Scientist" experimented and created the "Koa'ki Meiru" Monsters.
==Playing StyleEtymology==The theme was initially designed to bring down the dominating Decks at the time "Koa'ki Meiru" is a combination of over 2 banlists and therefore centered around heavy control elements. Seeing as the meta was completely dominated by LIGHT words "Core", "Chimera" and DARK Decks"Mail", their effects were specifically designed to target both Attributes, therefore bringing about a specific sometimes romanized as "Anti-MetaCore Chimair" theme to (a combination of the words "MetaCore" at the timeand "Chimera"). Because of their high ATK for monsters of their level (11 Level 4 monsters from 1900 ATK, topping out at 3000 (==Design==The "Koa'ki Meiru Valafar" and "Koa'ki Meiru Maximus"))archetype consists of a plethora of different creatures, and the nature of the new supportfeaturing elementals, the theme has taken a more aggressive approach with powerful beatdown elementsdragons, namely statues, warriors and many more and can overall be described as a mishmash of art styles. They don't really have any connection in design or color, except for the fact that all of the "Koa'ki Meiru RooklordMeirus" and have the same mark (3 dragons) on some part of their body or on a weapon they use.==Playing style=="Koa'ki Meiru Urnight". Generally speaking, there are two ways to use "KoaKoa'ki Meiru" cards. The most obvious is simply to use a dedicated stun/control Deck; the other way is to use individual "Koarevolving around fulfilling its monsters'ki Meiru" monsters as a supplement maintenance costs in order to Type-specific Decks of keep them on the field and apply their type, giving an "Antifield-Meta" controlling aspect to it as well as being able to maintain it through effects. Secondarily, the archetype revolves around interactions with the alternative maintenance cost; for example, using Normal Spell "Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru Drago" in a Dragon-Type Deck as seen in "Disaster Dragon" builds. In order to run a dedicated "Koa.Almost every "Koa'ki Meiru" Deck, no matter monster has a maintenance cost that must be performed during each of the styleplayer's End Phases, youotherwise they will destroy themselves. "Koa'll need multiple ways to retrieve ki Meiru" monsters typically have a choice of two actions for their maintenance costs; the options are typically sending an "Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru" from your Deck and Graveyardthe player's hand to the Graveyard, or revealing a card in the player's hand (typically a monster of their same type). Good cards for this include {| class="Koa'ki Meiru Boulderwikitable mw-collapsible autocollapse" style=", margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; border: none; text-align: center"[[|+ {{nowrap|Koa'ki Meiru Crusader]]", " Koa'ki Meiru", and "[! rowspan = 2 | Level! rowspan = 2 | Attribute! rowspan = 2 | Type! colspan = 2 | Maintenance Cost|-! Option 1! Option 2|-| Maximus|| 8 || WIND || Dragon| rowspan = 20 | Send 1 ". "Iron Core Immediate Disposal" is also nice mid-game card after building up resources in your hand. Cards that help thin the deck or dump the | Send 1 "Core" into the Graveyard help make the Deck faster and more consistent. You must also be wary of keeping more monsters on your field than you can maintain. Your field should max out at 2 Koa'ki Meiru"monster|-| [[Koa'ki Meiru" monsters requiring maintenance with multiple "Cores" in play, as well as an alternative cost ready in hand. With this in mind, it would be wise to play multiple cards of the same Type, making your field easier to maintain. However, with the release of Valafar || 8 || FIRE || Fiend| —|-| Rooklords, you can simply overlay any "|| 7 || EARTH || Warrior| Reveal 1 Warrior monster|-| Ghoulungulate || 5 || EARTH || Zombie| Reveal 1 Zombie monsterBeatdown builds uses a different lineup, using a minimum of control but only the best in the form of "Koa'ki Meiru Rooklord" and "|-| Powerhand". With the addition of "|| 4 || WIND || Dragon| Reveal 1 Dragon monster|-| [[Koa'ki Meiru Urnight" from Beetle, you gain a swarm/toolbox element. "|| 4 || EARTH || Insect| Reveal 1 Insect monster|-| Crusader" is nice protection but your tribute fodder is best used on "Rooklord". Spell/Trap protection is a better option.|| 4 || EARTH || Beast-Warrior| Reveal 1 Beast-Warrior monster|-==Weaknesses==Because "Iron Core of | [[Koa'ki Meiru" may often be in the Graveyard, it is vulnerable to cards that can banish it such as "Gravirose" and "|| 4 || FIRE || Plant| Reveal 1 Plant monster|-| Macro Cosmos". Also, having multiple "Koa'ki Meiru" monsters on the field at once can be extremely dangerous, as each one would require you to reveal a card or discard a card from your hand at the End Phase, leaving your hand and field advantage very hard to maintain unless multiple copies are used (for example, 3 copies of "Koa'ki Meiru Powerhand" only require Overload|Overload]] || 4 || EARTH || Rock| Reveal 1 Rock monster|-| Guardian || 4 || EARTH || Rock| Reveal 1 Normal Trap Card to be revealed). "] || 4 || WIND || Winged Beast|-| Banish" Decks can banish "Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru" and so you have to rely on your revealing effect. Obviously, the most important card in the Deck is A number of "Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru", so having three in your Deck is essentialmonsters (e.g. Most of the monsters are used against "Drago, mostly DARK " and LIGHT monsters, since they are the most commonly used Decks ("[[Infernities]Koa'ki Meiru Doom|Doom]]", ") have effects focused on countering LightswornsLIGHT", "and BlackwingsDARKmonsters (which were likely intended as " etc.). Most anti-meta" options against their contemporary LIGHT and DARK-based meta Decks).Four Level 4 EARTH Rock "Koa'ki Meiru" Decks should focus on the negation effects of monsters ("Overload", "Guardian", and "Sandman" and the card advantage and swarming effects of , "Wall" and "Koa'ki Meiru Urnight", using the other "Koa) also form a thematic sub-series with a single effect pattern: each of them can negate an opponent'ki Meiru" Monsters according to the Deck's main strategys action (summoning a monster or activating a card/effect of a card type) by tributing themselves. In addition, "Koa'ki Meiru Ice" and cards can be played as staples in other Typing-focused Decks, or played as a single dedicated Deck. As a dedicated "Koa'ki Meiru Tornado" are wonderful in punishing your opponent's powerful Special Summoned Monsters. Deck, the Deck primarily focuses on the Level 4 EARTH Rock "Koa'ki MeirusMeiru" can also work well monsters due to their accessibility, power, and synergy with support for Equip Spell CardRocks. Using cards like support; they form a part of the popular "Hidden ArmoryRock Stun", Deck. The Deck's main searchers are "Iron Diamond Core Armorof Koa'ki Meiru" can be recycled just as much as the "Iron Core" itself. , "Core BlasterKoa'ki Meiru Urnight" is also extremely powerful, and even a single copy could destroy decks that focus heavily on LIGHT and DARK monsters"Koa'ki Meiru Supplier". Aside from the "Rock Stun" "Koa'ki Meiru Bergzak" works very well with any ATKmonsters, other relevant high-boosting effect, power (and low-cost) "Koa'ki Meiru" monsters include the LIGHT and DARK hard counters "Iron Blacksmith KotetsuKoa'ki Meiru Drago" fits in the Deck since itand "[[Koa's a Beast-Warriorki Meiru Doom. ", the card-destroying "Trade-InKoa'ki Meiru Ice" can work well if you are using and "Beast King BarbarosKoa'ki Meiru Tornado" or , and the mass effect negation of "Grandsoil the Elemental Lord" to reveal for "Koa'ki Meiru UrnightHydro Barrier]]" and . While "Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru Crusader". Other Level 8 monsters is central to work with "Trade-In" are "Koathe archetype'ki Meiru Valafar" s playstyle, and there are multiple dedicated searchers for it (e.g. "Koa'ki Meiru MaximusCore Transport Unit". It would be wise to include ), the fact that the card doesn't have any effects itself and is purely an enabler for certain specific cards means that return monsters and other cards to a playermore modern "Koa's hand. For exampleki Meiru" will typically try to downplay its importance, in favor of other external enablers (and maintenance cost providers) like "Compulsory Evacuation DeviceAdamancipator" or "Penguin Soldier" can remove threats from the field or keep a "Koa'ki Meiru" alive for a turn or even use it for the maintenance.  Usual "Anti-Meta" tricks like "Grave of the Super Ancient Organism" or "Royal Oppression" work fairly well, since "Koa'ki Meirus" can maintain a solid game even without Special Summoning.  Although most "Koa'ki Meiru" monsters have difficulty staying on the field, a few of them work incredibly well together, sharing types or common reveals that help ensure their survival on the field. However, because most are level 4, they can be used for an Xyz Summon before they are destroyed during the End Phase. * "Koa'ki Meiru Urnight" and "Koa'ki Meiru Crusader" are Beast-Warrior-Type monsters and have the same reveal requirement, while allowing for a good presence on the field and card advantage. "Urnight" can Special Summon another level 4 "Koa'ki" from the Deck for a quick Xyz Summon and "Crusader" can recover "Urnight" after it has been detached.  * "Koa'ki Meiru Wall", "Koa'ki Meiru Sandman", "Koa'ki Meiru Guardian", "Koa'ki Meiru Boulder", "Koa'ki Meiru Prototype", "Koa'ki Meiru Overload" and "Gigantes" can be extremely aggressive when combined, as well as controlling the field and hand. "Wall", "Sandman", "Overload" and "Guardian" all have effect negation abilities: they are used for a "Rock Stun" deck. "Boulder" and "Prototype" are both extremely useful for "Koa'ki Meiru" monsters because they don't have a maintenance cost and still have very useful effects-"Boulder" is used to search for other "Koa'ki Meiru" monsters or "Iron Cores", while "Prototype" can sacrifice itself to prevent a "Koa'ki Meiru" monster from being destroyed, even by their own effects during the End Phase * "Koa'ki Meiru Maximus" can be used as the reveal cost for "Koa'ki Meiru Drago". "Drago's" effect serves as disruption, while you gather "Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru" for the final push for game with "Maximus". However, "Maximus" is often a dead draw early on, and it is difficult to maintain once it hits the field, making it a very powerful but also very temperamental boss monster. Use with caution. * "Koa'ki Meiru Doom" and "Koa'ki Meiru Valafar" also work together, usually in a different Deck revolving around "Evil Hero Dark Gaia" and "Dark Fusion". * "Koa'ki Meiru Speeder" can nullify the costs for "Koa'ki Meiru Tornado" and "Koa'ki Meiru Hydro Barrier", as well as working with "Koa'ki Meiru Powerhand" due to their high ATK and DEF and low Levels. * "Koa'ki Meiru Ghoulungulate" has a protection effect which can be easily achieved by first fueling the Graveyard with "Iron Core Specimen Lab" and "Koa'ki Meiru Urnight". "Koa'ki Meiru Ghoulungulate" can easily be brought out with Pyramid Turtle's" effect, and keeps a good Tribute fodder for "Koa'ki Meiru Rooklord". Since both Banish, "Burial from a Different Dimension" and "Return from the Different Dimension" can be very useful. Finally, a few cards have the heavy cost of discarding a Spell Card from your hand (like "Summoner Monk", "Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spell" and "Chiron the Mage"), but "Koa'ki Meiru" Decks can recycle the "Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru" as long as they want to, making these much more consistent than any other Deck. ==Recommended Cards== See also: Rock Stun. ===Koa'ki Meiru "Anti-Meta" Beatdownmonsters.===Recommended cards==={{Decklist|Deck

===Weaknesses===* The Deck's reliance on "Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru", which has no notable effects itself, means that a "Koa'ki Meiru" Deck that focuses on "Iron Core" can run into issues with dead draws.* A major weakness is the archetypes own maintenance effect. If the player is not careful and summons multiple "Koa'ki Meiru" monsters to the field without thought, it can easily blow up if one is not able to pay all the costs.** Additionally, cards such as "Respect Play" or "Ceremonial Bell" can eliminate the majority of the alternative maintenance costs by making it impossible to reveal any cards. In that case, one would be forced to rely on sending "Iron Core" to satisfy maintenance costs.* "Koa'ki Meiru" monsters are very reliant on the hand, therefore any form of "Hand Control" presents a big threat by being able to specifically remove assets essential to the Deck. Cards like "Card Destruction", "Mind Crush", "D.D. Designator" and "Trap Dustshoot" can completely disrupt the player's strategy.* Like many other decks, "Koa'ki Meiru" does not appreciate its Summons to be negated or blocked. "Solemn Warning", "Solemn Judgment", "Archlord Kristya", "Vanity's Fiend" or "Vanity's Emptiness" are all effective against the deck.
