A Penalty Game is a punishment given to the loser of a Shadow Game. The loser of the duel's soul is sent to the "Shadow Realm" and supposedly you can't come back unless that person who sent you is defeated. The only people who can declare a Shadow Game are duelists with Millienium Items. During that time, your body remains lifeless and spirits feed on your soul.
