To '''Set''' (セット ''Setto'') is to place a card [[face-down]] on the [[Playing Field|field]].
[[Monster Card]]s are Set in the [[Monster Card Zone]]s, and must be Set in [[Defense Position]]. This is called a [[Normal Set]].
With the exception of [[Field Spell Card]]s, which are Set in the [[Field Card Zone]], [[Spell Card|Spell]] and [[Trap Card]]s are Set in the [[Spell & Trap Card Zone]]s. In all cases, the cards are Set vertically.
