Fan Translation[edit]

  • Who keeps translating cards into "fan names" like "Divine Fetter"? This happened with Solemn Warning, where it was left wrongly fan-translated as Divine Warning. With "God" cards, things with "kami" in their name are usually translated as Solemn, not Divine. Divine Wrath doesn't have "kami" in it's name. This card's name should be changed, or just left well-enough alone as God's Fetter. There's no reason to guess a name.--YamiWheeler (talkcontribs) 17:08, September 20, 2010 (UTC)

I don't see why it should be divine or solemn. Since neither kami or shin are official archetypes, it should just say God's Fetter - Dromi. Master D (talkcontribs) 12:06, September 22, 2010 (UTC)

  • It's nothing to do with an "official archetype." They aren't archetypes at all. It comes down to how Divine and Solemn cards are translated into English. Kami cards almost always become "Solemn" (i.e. Solemn Judgment, Solemn Warning and Solemn Wishes) and shin, ten, etc. cards become "Divine" (i.e. every "Divine" card out there) - there are no Divine cards at all that have Kami in the Japanese name. So, it would be incorrect, if we're going to use an English translation of this card, to use Divine. Otherwise, I'd be happy to leave it as God's Fetter. If not that, it stays as Solemn unless you can give a decent reason why.--YamiWheeler (talkcontribs) 13:08, September 22, 2010 (UTC)
