Nephthy's ideas
 +
So, here are some random ideas from me:
 +

 +
Decks centered around 1 type, but using no archetype. Of course not dragons or Warriors, as those have a lot of support, but Winged-Beast, Beast, Insect etc. The only criterias are: 1) Only use cards of that type and 2) do not use 2 cards of the same archetype.
 +

 +
Decks to summon 2 Elemental Lords in any combination (so someone picks Moulinglacia+Windrose, other picks Moulinglacia+Pyrorex etc)
 +

::Been there, done that.  2 Elemental Lords can be pulled off w/ very few things, leaving little variety. It's just not a really feasible idea. I'd just go with something like 2 weird Type combinations, like Plant/Dragon or Spellcaster/Rock that have to contributed to decently to both types in the deck. Slightly expanding on Nephthy's first idea, Decks centered around 1 Attribute, but also using no archetype. --Gadjiltron (talk • contribs) 11:06, March 11, 2013 (UTC)

Done - Number of copies
How about Decks where the number of each card used must be exactly 3 (what means no Semi and Limiteds) or 1 (but Limited aren't allowed). This idea could be merged with others, like the Attribute Lock, for extra challenge. --Missign0 (talk • contribs) 21:30, March 16, 2013 (UTC)

Done - Structure Deck Flashback
As time goes on, new cards are added to the database, some of them synergizing old cards, whether intentional or not.

You are given one of the first 12 OCG non-character-based Structure Decks (SD01 to SD12). You are allowed to renovate one of them to utilize the modern cards. However, you are explicitly prohibited from changing the overall theme of the Deck, while also keeping the general tradition of mostly single-copy cards unless necessitated by the Deck.

You are also prohibited from adding any other Structure Deck-exclusive cards.

Which will you pick? How will you modify it? --Gadjiltron (talk • contribs) 13:12, April 14, 2013

:How about this: you pick a Structure Deck, but you can only change a limited number of its cards (15, for example) for new cards and you must use the cover card? --Missign0 (talk • contribs) 02:42, April 15, 2013 (UTC)

Sealed Pack Play?
I like this idea, but a few are pretty easy, like Parshath and Chaos King Archfiend. You can always go with Dark Highlander and Ally of Justice Decisive Armor, though. Synchro Maniac10 (talk • contribs) 03:24, May 4, 2013 (UTC)

Potential - Sealed Pack Play?
So the basic idea is to take a few versatile packs, and use a random number generator to organize the card's into packs of around 50, and then ask contestants to make decks of 30 cards. Of course we won't really be able to play with them, unless DN allows games of 30 cards, which I don't think they do.

Honestly, this idea might be fun, but it's also going to be a lot of work using a random number gen to make the 50 card pools. <span style="font-family: Monotype Corsiva">--<span style="color:FireBrick;">Dark </span><span style="color:LightSlateGray">Ace SP</span> (<span style="color:FireBrick;">Talk</span>)</span>  00:13, April 13, 2013 (UTC)

:An easier alternative: Contestants are given a short list of packs, and can only build their Deck using cards from those packs. === How in the world do you do this? ===

Not sure how long since we did something like this.  But why not a hard to summon contest?  We have plenty new candidates.  Like Sophia, Number 92 (or even 9).  Or, fulfill a challenge.  Like a deck (not hieratic) that can get out rank 8s at a decent pace.  Or make a new take on a rabbit deck.  I saw one that summoned out two Mask cards for Des Gradius. Anyone up for either of them? --<span style="color:Red; font-family:Snell Roundhand; font-size:15pt">Evolution</span> <span style="colorl:Blue; font-family:Princetown Let; font-size:15pt">Is The Key</span> 05:38, April 13, 2013 (UTC)

::That's probably what I had in mind, but your thoughts made it easier. Any ideas on what packs? I don't want anything too new, but nothing too old as well, or maybe just a good all round pick from each generation of Yugioh? <span style="font-family: Monotype Corsiva">--<span style="color:FireBrick;">Dark </span><span style="color:LightSlateGray">Ace SP</span> (<span style="color:FireBrick;">Talk</span>)</span>  00:59, April 15, 2013 (UTC)

We've had several variations of a "hard-to-summon" contest. --Gadjiltron (talk • contribs) 07:07, April 13, 2013 (UTC)

The pack list may come in blocks, maybe representing a "generation". For example, TDGS to ABPF. Or maybe HA01 to HA07. If you want to go retro with a giant card library, DR1 to DR04. --Gadjiltron (talk • contribs) 08:25, April 15, 2013 (UTC)

Not entirely sure if we've done this, or even how many options we would have, but why not a deck where the archetype is primarily Normal Monsters.  This includes Ojama, Mokey Mokey, the Wight series.  Sure, they have effect monsters, but even then they aren't used very much.--<span style="color:Red; font-family:Snell Roundhand; font-size:15pt">Evolution</span> <span style="colorl:Blue; font-family:Princetown Let; font-size:15pt">Is The Key</span>  05:16, April 14, 2013 (UTC)

Allied Terminal
Moving this idea from under a "completed" heading since it wasn't used.

So I looked at the past Tag Team contest, and had an idea: Contestants are assigned into 2-member Tag Teams and are to build their Decks based on a Duel Terminal archetype of their choosing. However, both members of must choose archetypes belonging to different Attributes. --Gadjiltron (talk • contribs) 12:54, April 14, 2013 (UTC)

Recall how terribly inefficient the anime characters build the Decks, using only one copy of each card and playing unusually situational cards?

Yeah, we're doing roughly the same thing. You can only insert one copy of each card into the Deck you're building. That includes the Extra Deck. And you're not allowed to use any Limited Cards. With your options restricted, let's see how you go about finding substitutes for the cards you can no longer spam. --Gadjiltron (talk • contribs) 15:22, May 10, 2013 (UTC)

Need for Speed
Simple enough: Build a Deck for Turbo Duels. That means you can only use Speed Spell Cards instead of the regular Spells. Assume Speed World 2 is being used to construct your Deck, and you are to use the video game lore for Speed Spells.

This may require some archetype restrictions. --Gadjiltron (talk • contribs) 15:28, May 10, 2013 (UTC)

:Also a restriction to the minimum number of Speed Spell, and the maximum number of Trap Cards (to avoid Decks with 1 Speed Spell and 20 Traps, for example). --Missign0 (talk • contribs) 02:47, May 11, 2013 (UTC)

Black VS White
Looking back at the first few iterations of the Deck Competitions, I thought of something. Similar to the underused Synchros idea above, we put up a list consisting of various underused Xyz and Synchro monsters, but in equal numbers for both. Contestants, as usual, pick one entry from that list and build a Deck around it.

However, by picking an Extra Deck monster to go with, that contestant cannot include monsters from the opposing faction in their Extra Deck. Means no Synchro Monsters when one goes with an Xyz Monster, and vice-versa. Fusion Monsters are fair game.

When voting is summed up, the faction (Synchro/Xyz) with more votes in total is declared the winner, as is all contestants who have picked monsters belonging to said faction. Honorary mentions go to contestants with highest individual votes, though.

Consider it a means of answering the debate over whether Synchro or Xyz is better. --Gadjiltron (talk • contribs) 09:26, May 16, 2013 (UTC)
