Lists

Virus Cards (ウィルス Wirusu) are an archetype of cards which, when originally introduced in the manga, were a separate card type, alongside Monster, Spell, and Trap Cards, and were placed in the Spell & Trap Card Zone. With some variation, their effects are typically along the lines of Tributing a DARK monster of a particular ATK range to disrupt the contents of the opponent's hand, Deck and/or field for three turns after its activation.

These cards were changed to Normal Spell Cards in the Japanese anime and changed into Normal Trap Cards in the OCG, TCG, and dubbed anime.

One Field Virus Card, "Alpha-Wave Emission", has appeared in Yu-Gi-Oh! R.

Seto Kaiba uses some of the Virus Cards in the anime and manga. The English TCG names for the Virus Cards always begin with two alliterative words.

Play style

These cards may be included in Zombie or "Cyberdark" Decks or almost any Deck that utilizes a large amount of DARK monsters meeting the ATK criteria. The "Cyberdark" monsters are capable of changing their ATK, which can help fill the requirements of any of the "Virus Cards".
