0X[edit]
- When "Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys" is destroyed by a card effect, its effect to Special Summon itself during your next Standby Phase activates in the Graveyard. If "Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys" is not in the Graveyard at this time, then its effect does not activate. If "Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys" is destroyed and (then) removed from play by "Bottomless Trap Hole" (or "D.D. Crow"), then "Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys" is not in the Graveyard, so you cannot activate its effect which Special Summons it.
- The effect of "Bottomless Trap Hole" does not target. Thus, if "Lord of D." is on the field, then you can still activate "Bottomless Trap Hole" when a Dragon-Type monster with 1500+ ATK is Normal Summoned/Flip Summoned/Special Summoned, and the Dragon-Type monster will be removed from play normally.
- If "Beast King Barbaros" or "Fusilier Dragon, the Dual-Mode Beast" is Normal Summoned without Tributes and has its ATK/DEF changed, then if it is flipped face-down by an effect like "Book of Moon", then the effect which changes its ATK/DEF is no longer applied, so "Fusilier Dragon, the Dual-Mode Beast" returns to 2800/2000. Also, if it is removed from play by "Interdimensional Matter Transporter", then the effect which changes its ATK/DEF is no longer applied as soon "Fusilier Dragon, the Dual-Mode Beast" is removed from the field, so "Fusilier Dragon, the Dual-Mode Beast" returns to 2800/2000.
- If an effect like "Book of Moon" or "Compulsory Evacuation Device" is chained to the effect of "Jain, Lightsworn Paladin" or "Judgment Dragon" which sends cards from the Deck to the Graveyard during the End Phase so that "Jain, Lightsworn Paladin" is not face-up on the field when its effect is resolving, then you do not apply the effect and you do not send cards from the Deck to the Graveyard.
- If you activate an effect like that of "Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru" or "Magical Blast" or "Spirit Burner" instead of drawing, then if an effect like that of "D.D. Crow" or "Disappear" is chained so that "Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru" is no longer in the Graveyard when resolving its effect, then you do not add "Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru" to your hand. However, you still cannot draw, since you already chose to activate the effect of "Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru" instead of draw.
- When Fusion Summoning a monster like "Dark Balter the Terrible" or "Cyber End Dragon" or "Destiny End Dragoon", you must use the Fusion Material Monsters that are specifically listed on the card. You cannot use a Fusion Substitute Monster like "Goddess with the Third Eye" or "King of the Swamp" as a Fusion Material Monster.
- If "Future Visions" removes from play a Normal Summoned monster and afterwards "Future Visions" is removed from the field, then the monster remains removed from play. If a second copy of "Future Visions" is activated before the next Standby Phase, then the second copy of "Future Visions" cannot return to play a monster that was removed from play by the first copy of "Future Visions".
8807: Is the effect of "Spell Economics" applied to both players?
- The effect of "Spell Economics" only applies to the player who controls "Spell Economics". The opponent cannot also activate Spell Cards without paying Life Points.
- You can only use the effect of "Spell Economics" to activate a Spell Card without paying Life Points - that is, you can only not pay Life Points to play a Spell Card from your hand or to flip face-up a Spell Card which is face-down on the field. Thus, if you control a face-up "Spell Economics" and a face-up "Mausoleum of the Emperor", then you cannot use the effect of "Spell Economics" to activate the effect of "Mausoleum of the Emperor" without paying Life Points.
- When "Miracle Dig" or "Burial from a Different Dimension" return removed from play cards to the Graveyard, the cards are not treated as being sent to the Graveyard. Thus, you can activate "Burial from a Different Dimension" and its effect will be applied and return cards to the Graveyard even when the effects of "Macro Cosmos" or "Banisher of the Light" are active.
1X[edit]
- If your opponent controls your copy of "Giant Kozaky", then when "Giant Kozaky" is destroyed and sent to your Graveyard, the effect of "Giant Kozaky" will activate and inflict damage to your opponent since your opponent controlled "Giant Kozaky" while it was on the field.
- If you gain control of an opponent's monster with an effect like "Brain Control" or "Enemy Controller" and then the monster is removed from play by "Interdimensional Matter Transporter", then after the monster returns to the field during the End Phase, your opponent still regains control of the monster. Also, if the monster is removed from play by "Dimensionhole", then during the Standby Phase the monster returns to the opponent's side of the field.
8812: Please explain how to resolve the effects of "Vicious Claw".
- The effect of "Vicious Claw" is applied at the end of the Damage Step when the equipped monster has been destroyed by battle. No effects of "Vicious Claw" start Chains, and no effects target.
- If "Vicious Claw" cannot be returned to the hand, then the effects "Then, destroy 1 monster, except the one that battled the equipped monster, and inflict 600 damage to your opponent." and "After that, Special Summon 1 "Evil Token" (Fiend-Type/DARK/Level 7/ATK 2500/DEF 2500) on your opponent's side of the field." are not applied. If the effect cannot destroy a monster, then you do not inflict 600 damage and you do not resolve the "After that, Special Summon 1 "Evil Token" (Fiend-Type/DARK/Level 7/ATK 2500/DEF 2500) on your opponent's side of the field." effect.
- The text "This card cannot be used as a Synchro Material Monster, except for the Synchro Summon of a Dragon-Type Synchro Monster. The other Synchro Material Monster(s) cannot be Level 4." of "Debris Dragon" is not treated as an effect, so if "Neo-Spacian Dark Panther" or "Phantom of Chaos" copies "Debris Dragon", then you do not apply this text. Thus, if "Neo-Spacian Dark Panther" copies "Debris Dragon", then you can use it for the Synchro Summon of a non-Dragon-Type Synchro Monster, and the other Synchro Material Monsters may be Level 4.
- If an effect like "Book of Moon" or "Compulsory Evacuation Device" is chained to the effect of "[[:]]" so that "[[:]]" is not face-up on the field when resolving its effect, then you still resolve the effect which makes you discard from your hand, even though you cannot resolve the effect which raises the ATK of "Fabled Raven".
- Card Rulings:Book of Moon, Card Rulings:Compulsory Evacuation Device, [[:Card Rulings:]]
- While the effect of "Aegis of the Ocean Dragon Lord" is active, Level 3 or lower WATER monsters cannot be destroyed. Thus, when "Armed Sea Hunter" is destroyed, you cannot choose to apply its effect which destroys a Level 3 or lower WATER monster instead.
- You cannot Normal Summon or Flip Summon if you do not have two Monster Card Zones to make unusable when playing "Phantom Dragon". Similarly, under the same circumstances, you cannot select "Phantom Dragon" as a target of "Monster Reborn".
- The effects of "Hero Barrier" and "Necro Gardna" negate the first attack declared after the effect resolves. If multiple copies of "Hero Barrier" are activated, then the effects will all negate the next attack declared.
- When resolving the effect of "Icarus Attack", if one of the targeted cards is no longer on the field, then the card that is still on the field will still be destroyed.
- If you have 5 cards in your hand and "Tragoedia" has 3000 ATK, then if "Tragoedia" is affected by the effect of "Sea Koala", then the ATK of "Tragoedia" will be 0, even if the size of your hand later changes.
2X[edit]
- If "Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind" and "The Wicked Avatar" are on the field, then "The Wicked Avatar" will have 1400 ATK. If the effect of "Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind" is activated, then "The Wicked Avatar" will have 700 ATK, but the effect of "The Wicked Avatar" will immediately make its ATK 1400.
8821: Can you Normal Summon a Gemini Monster again if its effect is negated?
- If "Debris Dragon" Special Summons a Gemini Monster, then the "treated as a Normal Monster" effect of the Gemini Monster is negated. The Gemini Monster is not treated as a Normal Monster, so you cannot Normal Summon it a second time.
- If the effect of "Imperial Custom" is active during the third End Phase after "Depth Amulet" was activated, then "Depth Amulet" is not destroyed. Afterwards, when the opponent declares an attack, the effect of "Depth Amulet" can be activated.
- When "[[:]]" attacks by returning "Yubel - Terror Incarnate" to the hand, you can activate the effect of "Yubel - Terror Incarnate" which Special Summons "Yubel - The Ultimate Nightmare".
- [[:Card Rulings:]], Card Rulings:Yubel - Terror Incarnate, Card Rulings:Yubel - The Ultimate Nightmare
- If "Urgent Tuning" is activated at Chain Link 2 or higher so that you Synchro Summon in the middle of a Chain and "Beast of the Pharaoh" was one of the Synchro Material Monsters, then you can activate the effect of "Beast of the Pharaoh" after the Chain finishes resolving, without having its effect miss the timing.
- If "Watapon" is added to your hand in the middle of resolving a Chain, then you can activate the effect of "Watapon" after the Chain resolves, without missing the timing. Thus, you can activate the effect of "Watapon" if it is drawn by "Graceful Charity", or drawn by a "Jar of Greed" activated at Chain Link 2 or higher.
- If "Ultimate Ancient Gear Golem" is destroying in the middle of resolving a Chain - such as if "Ring of Destruction" is activated at Chain Link 2 or higher - then you can activate its effect which Special Summons "Ancient Gear Golem" after the Chain finishes resolving, without missing the timing.
8827: Please explain what is meant by "at the end of the Damage Step".
- "At the end of the Damage Step", as mentioned in the text of cards like "Legendary Jujitsu Master", occurs at the same time as "when the monster which is destroyed by battle is sent to the Graveyard". Or, if "Macro Cosmos" or "Banisher of the Radiance" is active, then this occurs at the same time as "when the monster which is destroyed by battle is removed from play".
- If the targeted monster is no longer face-up on the field when resolving "Machine Duplication" - such as if "Book of Moon" or "Compulsory Evacuation Device" is chained - then you cannot Special Summon any monsters of the same name from your Deck.
8829: For "Cold Wave", what is the definition of "cannot be played"?
- The current errata of "Cold Wave" is "This card can only be activated at the start of your Main Phase 1. Until your next Draw Phase, neither play can Set nor activate the effects of Spell and Trap Cards.". Thus, while the effect of "Cold Wave" is active, neither player can,
- set Spell and Trap Cards from his hand.
- activate Spell and Trap Cards from his hand.
- activate Spell and Trap Cards which are Set in the Spell & Trap Card Zone.
- activate the effect of Spell and Trap Cards which are already face-up on the field, such as the effect of "Wave-Motion Cannon".
- While "Cold Wave" is active, the Continuous effects of Spell and Trap Cards which are face-up on the field will still be applied, such as the effect of "Gravity Bind".
3X[edit]
8830: Synchro Monster >
- The text, "If your opponent controls a face-up LIGHT monster, you can select and activate 1 of the following effects once per turn:" of "[[:]]" is not treated as an effect.
- The effect of "[[:]]" which destroys one Set card your opponent controls targets.
- Discarding your entire hand is a cost to activate the effect of "[[:]]" which discards from your opponent's hand and inflicts damage.
- [[:Card Rulings:]]
8831: Synchro Monster > Vindikite R-Genex
- The effect of "Vindikite R-Genex" does not target.
8832: Synchro Monster >
- The effect of "[[:]]" lets you draw cards from your Deck until you have two cards in your hand. You do not draw exactly two cards from the Deck.
- [[:Card Rulings:]]
8833: Synchro Monster > Dragunity Knight - Gae Bulg
- Removing from play one Winged Beast-Type monster is a cost to activate the effect of "Dragunity Knight - Gae Bulg". You can also activate this effect during Damage Calculation during the Damage Step.
8834: Fusion Monster > Worm Zero
- The "2 or more:" effect of "Worm Zero" targets one Reptile-Type monster in your Graveyard.
- Removing from play a Reptile-Type monster from your Graveyard is a cost to activate the "4 or more:" effect of "Worm Zero". This effect targets one monster on the field.
8835: Effect Monster > Worm Yagan
- When "Worm Yagan" removes itself from play after it Special Summons itself, it is removed from play as part of the same effect which Special Summoned it.
- After "Worm Yagan" Special Summons itself face-down, if it is removed from the field while still face-down, then it is removed from play.
- The effect of "Worm Yagan" which returns an opponent's monster to the hand targets one monster which is face-up on your opponent's field.
8836: Effect Monster > Worm Xex
- The effects of "Worm Xex" do not target.
- You still apply Damage Calculation even if "Worm Xex" is not destroyed by battle.
8837: Effect Monster > Worm Warlord
- The text, "This card cannot be Special Summoned." of "Worm Warlord" is not treated as an effect.
8838: Effect Monster > Ally of Justice Cycle Reader
- The effect of "Ally of Justice Cycle Reader" is a Quick Effect which activates in the hand.
- Discarding "Ally of Justice Cycle Reader" from your hand is a cost to activate its effect.
- The effect of "Ally of Justice Cycle Reader" targets one to two LIGHT monsters in your opponent's Graveyard.
8839: Effect Monster > Ally of Justice Quarantine
4X[edit]
8840: Effect Monster > Ally of Justice Omni-Weapon
- The effect of "Ally of Justice Omni-Weapon" which Special Summons the drawn monster is part of the effect which lets you draw. It does not start an additional Chain Link.
8841: Effect Monster > General Grunard of the Ice Barrier
8842: Effect Monster > Spellbreaker of the Ice Barrier
- Sending from your hand to the Graveyard one "Ice Barrier" monster is a cost to activate the effect of "Spellbreaker of the Ice Barrier".
8843: Effect Monster > R-Genex Ultimum
- The effect of "R-Genex Ultimum" targets two "Genex" monsters in your Graveyard.
8844: Effect Monster > R-Genex Oracle
- The text, "If this card is used as a Synchro Material Monster, it can only be for the Synchro Summon of a "Genex" monster." of "R-Genex Oracle" is not treated as an effect.
8845: R-Genex Accelerator
- The effect of "R-Genex Accelerator" is an optional effect which can only be activated if "R-Genex Accelerator" is face-up on the field.
- Revealing to your opponent the "Genex" monster which was added to your hand is a cost to activate the effect of "R-Genex Accelerator".
8846: Effect Monster > Naturia Hydrangea
- The effect of "Naturia Hydrangea" which Special Summons it from the hand has no classification. Is is neither a Flip Effect nor a Continuous Effect nor an Ignition Effect nor a Trigger Effect nor a Quick Effect. It does not start a Chain.
- You can only Special Summon "Naturia Hydrangea" from your hand during the Main Phase of a turn in which the effect of a "Naturia" monster was activated.
8847: Effect Monster > Naturia Fruitfly
- The effect of "Naturia Fruitfly" which takes control targets one face-up monster your opponent controls with 0 DEF.
8848: Effect Monster > Naturia Horneedle
- Tributing one "Naturia" monster is a cost to activate the effect of "Naturia Horneedle". This effect does not target.
8849: Effect Monster > Jurrac Stauriko
- The effect of "Jurrac Stauriko" which Special Summons the "Jurrac Tokens" activates at the end of the Damage Step.

8850: Effect Monster > Jurrak Guivre
- The effect of "Jurrac Guaiba" which Special Summons one "Jurak" monster with 1700 ATK or less activates at the end of the Damage Step.
8851: Effect Monster > Jurrak Titan
- The text, "This card cannot be Special Summoned." of "Jurrac Titano" is not treated as an effect.
- Removing from play one "Jurak" monster with 1700 ATK or less from your Graveyard is a cost to activate the effect of "Jurrac Titano" which increases its ATK.

- Sending one card from your hand to the Graveyard is a cost to activate the effect of "Fabled Oltro".
8853: Effect Monster > Fabled Ashenveil

8855: Effect Monster > Dragunity Phalanx
- The effect of "Dragunity Phalanx" which Special Summons it while it is treated as an Equip Spell Card starts a Chain. This effect is treated as the effect of a Spell Card, not the effect of a monster.
8856: Effect Monster > Dragunity Darkspear
- Tributing one Dragon-Type monster is a cost to activate the effect of "Dragunity Darkspear". You can also Tribute a face-down Dragon-Type monster.

8859: Effect Monster > Dragunity Dux
- The effect of "Dragunity Dux" targets one "Dragunity" monster in your Graveyard.
6X[edit]
8860: Synchro Monster > Dragunity Knight - Gadearg
- You cannot activate the effect of "Dragunity Knight - Gadearg" if there is no monster in your Deck which you can add to your hand.
8861: If your hand size decreases after drawing by the effect of "Fabled Ragin", then can you draw again?
- If your hand size decreases below two after the effect of "Fabled Ragin" resolves, then you cannot draw again.
- Example: While the effect of "Crush Card Virus" is active, if you draw cards by the effect of "Fabled Ragin" and you draw a monster(s) with 1500+ ATK, then the monster(s) is destroyed and you cannot draw again.
- If an effect like "D.D. Crow" is chained to the effect of "Fabled Dyf" so that the targeted "Fabled" monster is no longer in the Graveyard when resolving the effect of "Fabled Dyf", then the effect of "Fabled Dyf" resolves without effect and the "Fabled" monster is not Special Summoned.
- If "Worm Zero" is flipped face-down by an effect like "Book of Moon", then its ATK becomes 0 and the effects which it acquired disappear. If "Worm Zero" is then flipped face-up, then its ATK will remain at 0, and its effects are not re-applied.
- If multiple "Genex" monsters are added to your hand simultaneously, then when activating the effect of "R-Genex Accelerator", you can only reveal one of those monster. Also, you will only Special Summon the "Genex" monster that you revealed.
- If you have no Winged-Beast- or Dragon-Type monster in your hand, then you can still activate the effect of "Dragunity Knight - Gadearg". In this case, you must send to the Graveyard the monster which was added to your hand.
- When determining the ATK of "Dragunity Dux", "Dragunity" cards in your Spell & Trap Card Zone are also counted.
- The "Jurrac Tokens" Special Summoned by "Jurrac Stauriko" only cannot be Tributed for the Tribute Summon of a non-"Jurak" monster; they may be Tributed for purposes other than Tribute Summoning. Thus, you can Tribute them to activate the effects of "Cannon Soldier" or "Dark Strike Fighter".
8868: Please explain the effect of "Ally of Justice Omni-Weapon" which draws a card.
- The effect of "Ally of Justice Omni-Weapon" which Special Summons the drawn monster is part of the effect which lets you draw. It does not start an additional Chain Link.
- The effect of "Ally of Justice Omni-Weapon" activates when the destroyed LIGHT monster is sent to the Graveyard.
- If one of the monsters sent to the Graveyard by the effect of your "Ally of Justice Decisive Armor" was sent to your Graveyard because it was owned by you and added to your opponent's hand by "Exchange", then the sent monster will be included in the damage inflicted.
7X[edit]
- The effect of "Naturia Horneedle" cannot be activated during the Damage Step.
8871: Can "Naturia Hydrangea" Special Summon itself by its effect even during the opponent's turn?
- You can only Special Summon "Naturia Hydrangea" from your hand during your turn. You cannot Special Summon it during your opponent's turn, even if a "Naturia" monster you control activates its effect during your opponent's turn.
- If an effect is chained to the effect of "Ally of Justice Decisive Armor" so that your opponent controls no LIGHT monsters when resolving the effect of "Ally of Justice Decisive Armor", then the effect of "Ally of Justice Decisive Armor" will still resolve properly.
8873: Please explain the activation timing of the effect of "R-Genex Oracle".
- If "R-Genex Oracle" is added to your hand by the effect of a "Genex" monster during your opponent's turn, then you can activate its effect which Special Summon it. However, if "R-Genex Oracle" is added to your hand by the effect of a "Genex" monster during the Damage Step, then you cannot activate its effect which Special Summons it.
- You can activate the effect of "Vindikite R-Genex" which adds a "Genex" monster to your hand even if "Vindikite R-Genex" battles with a monster with equal ATK and both monsters are destroyed by battle.
8875: If your opponent only controls "Vindikite R-Genex", then can you attack directly?
- If "Vindikite R-Genex" is the only monster you control, then its effect "Your opponent cannot select this card as an attack target." will prevent your opponent from both attacking monsters and attacking directly. However, if your opponent controls a monster like "Jinzo #7" that can attack directly, then it may still attack directly, even if you only control "Vindikite R-Genex".
- When resolving the effect of "Worm Yagan" which Special Summons it in face-down Defense Position, if either you control monsters other than "Worm Xex" or if "Worm Xex" is no longer face-up on the field, then "Worm Yagan" will not be Special Summoned.
- After "Worm Yagan" Special Summons itself from the Graveyard, if it is flipped face-up and then face-down by an effect like "Book of Moon", then as soon as it becomes face-down the effect "When this card is removed from the field, it is removed from play." no longer is applied, so it will no longer be removed from play if it is removed from the field.
- The effect of "Dragunity Knight - Gae Bulg" can only be activated once per Damage Step. If "Dragunity Knight - Gae Bulg battles twice or more during the same Battle Phase, then its effect may be activated once during each Damage Step.
8879: Can "Dragunity Darkspear" Tribute itself as its activation cost?
- "Dragunity Darkspear" may Tribute itself to activate its own effect.
8X[edit]
- You can activate the effect of "Dragunity Knight - Gae Bulg" during your opponent's turn, during his Battle Phase's Damage Step.
- If "Ally of Justice Omni-Weapon" is not face-up on the field when the opponent's destroyed monster is sent to the Graveyard, then you cannot activate the effect of "Ally of Justice Omni-Weapon". Thus, if "Ally of Justice Omni-Weapon" battles with a monster with equal ATK and both are destroyed by battle, then you cannot draw a card.
- If you use 6+ Fusion Material Monsters to Special Summon "Worm Zero", then you get the "2 or more:" effect and the "4 or more:" effect in addition to the "6 or more:" effect.
- When the effect of "Skill Drain" becomes active, the ATK of "Worm Zero" becomes 0, and will remain 0 even if the effect of "Skill Drain" disappears. Also, while "Skill Drain" is active, the "2 or more:", etc, effects are negated. Once the effect of "Skill Drain" is no longer applied, the "2 or more:", etc, effects are re-applied.
8884: Trap Card > Appointer of the Red Lotus
- Paying 2000 Life Points and revealing your hand to your opponent is a cost to activate "Appointer of the Red Lotus.
- When "Appointer of the Red Lotus" returns the removed from play card to your opponent's hand during the End Phase, it does not start a Chain.
8885: Trap Card > Seal of Wickedness
- The effect of "Seal of Wickedness" targets one face-up card on the field.
- The text "The controller of this card has to pay 500 Life Points during each of your Standby Phases or destroy this card." of "Seal of Wickedness" is a maintenance cost.
8886: Trap Card > Stygian Dirge
8887: Trap Card > Ritual Buster
8888: Trap Card > Gemini Booster
- When "Gemini Booster" becomes an Equip Card, at activation it targets one face-up Gemini Monster you control.
- When this card which is treated as an Equip Card is destroyed, its effect activates and targets one face-up Gemini Monster you control that is being treated as a Normal Monster.
8889: Trap Card > Gemini Counter
- The effect of "Gemini Counter" target one face-up Gemini Monster that you control.
- The Gemini Monster is turned to face-down Defense Position when resolving the effect of "Gemini Counter". It is not a cost.
9X[edit]
8890: Trap Card > Nega-Ton Corepanel
8891: Trap Card > Infernity Force
- The effect of "Infernity Force" targets two monsters: the opponent's attacking monster, and the "Infernity" monster in your Graveyard.
8892: Trap Card > Limit Impulse
- Sending two cards from your hand to the Graveyard is a cost to activate "Limit Impulse".
8893: Trap Card > Roar of the Earthbound
- The effect of "Roar of the Earthbound" activates and starts a Chain Link when an opponent's monster declares an attack.
- The effect of "Roar of the Earthbound" targets the one opponent's attacking monster which will be destroyed.
- When resolving the effect of "Roar of the Earthbound", if you cannot destroy the attacking monster, then you cannot inflict damage to your opponent.
8894: Trap Card > Earthbound Wave
8895: Trap Card > Wolf in Sheep's Clothing
- "Wolf in Sheep's Clothing" is activated at the time of "after Damage Calculation".
8896: Trap Card > Spider Egg
- The effect of "Spider Egg" does not target.
8897: Trap Card > Inherited Fortune
- The effects of "Inherited Fortune" do not target.
- "Inherited Fortune" cannot be activated during the Damage Step.
8898: Trap Card > Bending Destiny
- The effects of "Bending Destiny" do not target.
- "Bending Destiny" may be activated during the Damage Step.
8899: Trap Card > Enlightenment
- The effects of "Enlightenment" do not target.
