Bug update

The archetype navboxes still don't seem to be working right. I thought all of that was fixed. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 23:47, April 4, 2011 (UTC)

Guess those Admins are little lazy. --FredCat 23:49, April 4, 2011 (UTC)
I certainly am, but I can't speak for the other admins... ;) Cheesedude, can you provide links to archetype navboxes that are still not displaying correctly, and specify how they should be displaying? Without examples and knowing exactly what's wrong, I may not be able to fix them. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 05:24, April 5, 2011 (UTC)
See Yokai Monster It's displaying members that appears in the TCG and support cards from the manga. Manga-only monsters are not displaying for whatever reason. Also, the navbox at Blackwing is missing massive amounts of cards in all three subsections. I don't know of any others off-hand, but I'm sure there are some. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 05:49, April 5, 2011 (UTC)
I've tried applying some fixes to {{ArchetypeNavbox}} and assorted concepts, but SMW's behavior seems to have changed in several ways in the most recent update, and I was never really familiar with it in the first place. If my changes don't fix the missing cards, you'll probably have to ask Deltaneos to have a look. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 06:52, April 5, 2011 (UTC)
I hate to say this, but whatever you did appears to have removed the manga support cards from the Yokai Monster navbox. I'll contact Deltaneos, then. Thanks. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 15:12, April 5, 2011 (UTC)
Heh, I have to admit, that's awesome. =D Here's hoping Delt can fix/has fixed it. ;) ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 17:14, April 5, 2011 (UTC)
Apparently the problem is that redirects are no longer accepted for the navboxes. Since some archetype pages were moved, this mucked it up. I actually sort of forgot about moving the rest of the archetype pages, but now I'm glad I did, since there's cleanup to be done, which would be easier with a bot's help *hinthint* Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 01:46, April 6, 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, I'm horribly inconsistent in running my bot. ;) The problem is, I add rules for it to fix issues as I come across them, and I have the problem of trying to add rules that are beyond my capabilities at the time, so I stop with the intention to revisit them later, and it never happens. The most recent thing responsible for this is an attempt to auto-add the animanga appearances templates; I suspect there's a bug in AWB's regex handling but I'm dragging my feet about reporting/asking about it. =D
In any case, if you give me a list, I can make a bot run specifically to update archetypes (and the more I can do at once, the better *hinthint* ). ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 02:15, April 6, 2011 (UTC)

Update list

The following need to be changed from their plural forms. For archetype, archsupport and archrelated, where applicable.

  • There may be some pages that are still using "Machine Emperor", "Machine Emperors", "Meklords", "Machine Imperial Soldier" and "Machine Imperial Soldiers". The first three should now be "Meklord" and the last two should be "Meklord Army".
  • There's also a possibility that there are some pages still using OCG archetype names before the TCG names were confirmed. "Inverz" should be "Steelswarm", "Tech Genus" should be "T.G.", "Rituas"/"Ritua" should be "Gishki" and "Vairon"/Vairons" should be "Vylon". Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 17:14, April 6, 2011 (UTC)
All right, I'll try to get started on this later today; in the meantime, list any others you think of/come across/rename. ;) ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 17:29, April 6, 2011 (UTC)
You got it. I should time to move some more pages tomorrow, assuming we do want go through with moving the rest of the pages. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 17:32, April 6, 2011 (UTC)
It's been several months now since this was started, and (as far as I know) not one person has posted a comment saying they think it shouldn't happen, much less providing any sort of argument as to why they might think that way. The people who were reverting the moves probably just didn't understand why the pages were being renamed. I'd say, start up again. ;) ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 17:45, April 6, 2011 (UTC)
When I said "Admin", I don't referring to Yu-Gi-Oh! Wikia's Admins, I am referring to one who was such to improve and flipping the wikia (general) sites. They are little lazy for not complete this part. --FredCat 18:03, April 6, 2011 (UTC)
Aah, I see. A better term for Wikia employees would probably be "sysadmin" or "staff". ;) ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 18:12, April 6, 2011 (UTC)

Ehh, maybe he just needs a bit of sleep... ;) It takes a lot of skill to be able to edit wikis when you're dead-tired and not make huge mistakes (of course, if Cheesedude *wasn't* tired, then I have no idea what caused him to slip up like that) (and yeah, I'm speaking from personal experience here). =D ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 02:08, April 8, 2011 (UTC)

Someone decided to redirect "Masked Hero" to "Masked Hero". Now I cannot find the actual page content in the edit history anywhere. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 12:18, April 11, 2011 (UTC)

Special:Undelete/Masked_Hero is it somewhere there? -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 12:21, April 11, 2011 (UTC)
Got it, thanks Falzar. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 12:24, April 11, 2011 (UTC)

Done. All pages that are still at plurals are because their singular forms have actual pages, or because I thought the plural form made more sense in that case (Six Attributes, for example]]). Hopefully I didn't miss any. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 00:57, April 15, 2011 (UTC)

Sorry about those screw-ups and fixing the "Valkyrie" page. I did the same thing at "XX-Saber", but I think I fixed it. Not really sure what I did that caused that. Seems I somehow moved a page to the same name multiple times. <_< Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 03:17, April 15, 2011 (UTC)
It's possible you inadvertently double-clicked the "Rename page" button on the move page. I do that every once in a while with the "Publish"/"Save changes" button on edit screens, and thus edit-conflict myself. ;) ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 03:22, April 15, 2011 (UTC)

Unprepared Danger

Isn't the number on Unprepared Danger 61? (I thought it would be better to ask rather than edit it straight away). --Dan Green (Real nameno gimmicks) 15:16, April 6, 2011 (UTC)

That's possible, but it's pretty much impossible to be able to tell for sure from the current image. There's no harm in waiting until we either get a better image or get confirmation from another source, though. ;) ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 17:17, April 6, 2011 (UTC)

Aero Shark

Nope, just force of habit since I've been doing a lot of GX manga stuff recently.. I don't use edit tools. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 04:49, April 12, 2011 (UTC)

Aah, makes sense. By the way, while I've got your ear, I've decided (ridiculously late in the game) that the animanga appearances templates should separate episode/chapter numbers with a comma-space instead of a slash, as this is more readable and allows for sane wrapping in cases of many episode/chapter numbers. Don't worry too much about going back and updating pages using slashes, though (I intend to sick Dinobot on that one once I finally get the current issue with it worked out). ;) and yes, you can feel free to throw stuff at me for taking so long to make up my goddamned mind =D ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 05:20, April 12, 2011 (UTC)
Well, I'll use commas in any future ones I add then. Or if I happen to edit a card article that already has it for any reason. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 05:32, April 12, 2011 (UTC)
All right, thanks. =) ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 05:33, April 12, 2011 (UTC)

Wait.

Zeus Breath and Poseidon Waves are identical besides the name. Not sure if we need separate articles. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 17:27, April 13, 2011 (UTC)

Aah, so they seem. I got the impression somehow that Poseidon Waves was a spell card featuring a ship or sub and an orca whale... =/ ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 18:28, April 13, 2011 (UTC)
It sounds like you combined the images of "Surfacing" and "Salvage" in your head and then thought they were "Poseidon Waves". Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 18:44, April 13, 2011 (UTC)
Heh, that very well could be. =D ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 19:42, April 13, 2011 (UTC)

New Card...

Do you think that Mira is Lyna's older figure or was Mira the Eternal Magician, Lyna the Light Charmer's lost mother? I noticed their similar (of course, except for hair-bang difference) --FredCat 17:02, April 14, 2011 (UTC)

I noticed that myself, the very instance I first saw the card image. They have, for instance, very similar belts, and there's all sorts of precedence for the possibility of Mira being an older version of Lyna (though at the same time, the other Charmers' names didn't change nearly as much as in this case). It's a strong possibility, going off of the images, but I think we'd be better off waiting to see if Generation Force introduces any additional Charmer support before we jump to a conclusion (since, unless I'm mistaken, every set that has featured Charmer advancements has also featured support for them). ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 17:55, April 14, 2011 (UTC)
I respect that, but usually, Charmer's advanced version (In case - Familiar-Possessed, since there are no article for them alone) released in same order Charmer released. Aussa went first, then Eria, next is Hiita and finally Wynn in Lost M. Pack, their familiar-possessed version released in same order in Elemental Energy pack. I would say same with their third advanced forms (Anger Name). Then we get Dharc (which is male) from The Duelist Genesis and finally get Lyna from The Shiny Darkness. I am pretty sure that it's little impossible to get Lyna's "advanced" form first since Lyna was AFTER Dharc, who have no Advanced Form at this minute we are speaking. This therefore bring me to the thought of Mira being Lyna's long lost mother. --FredCat 20:58, April 14, 2011 (UTC)
I would say this is similar to "Eria the Water Charmer" having an implied (non Familiar-Possessed and non-insert synonym for mad here) counterpart in "Gishki Erial". Actually, this is quite an appropriate example for another misuse of "archrelated". Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 23:31, April 14, 2011 (UTC)
That's only 1 letter difference... Eria added L to her name because of "Ritua" crap. Oh what the, Chees.... I am thinking.... Hmm... Oh yes, Cheese, what are you doing on Dino's Talk Page? You also forgot that Wynn's gone psycho. --FredCat 01:08, April 15, 2011 (UTC)

Latest episode/chapter main page links

What's up with them? All the manga chapters save the GX one do not display properly. It is it due to missing infobox parameters? Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 22:35, April 16, 2011 (UTC)

Hmm... looks to be a problem on Wikia's end. Best to be patient and see if it gets fixed, I think, and if not, to shoot them an email. ;) ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 02:32, April 17, 2011 (UTC)

I suppose you are in the right. In fact, my dispute with that user was eventually resolved, but other stuff came up and I forgot to remove the protection. I apologize and, in the future, will use the protection feature only when it's necessary. PoirotH (talkcontribs) 03:07, April 17, 2011 (UTC)

I will.I just want to say that when I put up the protection, it was for the sake of article. Usually, when two users are repeatedly editing an article because of their own opinions, a protection is imposed so that the users will have to settle their differences without moving back and forth between edits, or at least that's how I thought things worked out. I even tried to state my reason for putting the protection, but when I tried inputting the period of protection, it erased my comment, and when I tried to comment, it went from "1 week" to "other time".PoirotH (talkcontribs) 03:20, April 17, 2011 (UTC)

Template:Card table set

Could you give me a list of articles that you are testing that template in? I saw the template being used at "Smashing Ground". Didn't want to remove it, thought it may be one of your tests. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 18:44, April 18, 2011 (UTC)

The two main ones are (should be) Dark Magician and Blue-Eyes White Dragon. Other than that, if I really need to test it somewhere, I'll just edit the individual article at the time I'm testing (I originally added it to about a dozen articles myself, before I realized I'd be making such large changes as I have planned, but DM and BEWD cover most of the testcases I should need). Nice to see, though, that others have taken it upon themselves to add it to almost 50 other articles, in spite of the clear warning box on the template itself and my own repeated protestations.  ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 02:45, April 19, 2011 (UTC)

Fair use staff and cast images

Looking at Wikipedia's unacceptable use for non-free images. It lists "Pictures of people still alive... provided that taking a new free picture as a replacement (which is almost always considered possible) would serve the same encyclopedic purpose as the non-free image. This includes non-free promotional images." Is this just taking extra caution or are we strictly not allowed to use images like this for staff and cast member articles. -- Deltaneos (talk) 14:47, April 19, 2011 (UTC)

It's extra caution, mostly. I doubt we'd be able to get non-fair-use images of most of the people we have articles on here, so we pretty much have to settle for fair-use images of them anyways. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 17:45, April 19, 2011 (UTC)

Just to let you know that Stygian Sergeants have two pictures that are not fixing correct. And I have no knowledge of how to fixing it correct with my current power. One of them is French and other is English, but they are not place in correct code. If you can, just tell me how to fixing it in future reference? --FredCat 12:17, April 22, 2011 (UTC)

I'm really not sure just what happened there. I don't doubt you that you used the correct image names at the time, but the names you changed them to have no deleted history or logs, and the names Falzar then changed them to don't have any records of renames. =/ ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 16:48, April 23, 2011 (UTC)

Yu-Gi-Oh! R in image policy

It's not listed there. Is that an oversight, or do we count the same as "DM"? Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 18:33, April 29, 2011 (UTC)

It's probably just an oversight; I don't think we'd count it the same as "DM" unless the two were pretty much the same thing... You should probably ask Delt to be sure, though (either way, feel free to add it to the policy ;) ). ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 21:48, April 29, 2011 (UTC)
