Since the next WDC is obviously not happening at any time in the near future... Taking more inspiration from WC2006 again. Ideas listed:
*All cards that even ''appear'' on the Forbidden/Limited/Semi list cannot be used. Forces participants to make do with substitutes to many popular cards.
*No Monsters. Alternatively, no Spells and/or Traps.
*All monsters used must have an ATK lower than a certain value. Or, if you want to take it to another level, all monsters used must have 0 base ATK.
