Aleister Crowley (アレイスター・クロウリー Areisutā Kurourī) is a character appearing in the Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG Stories manga, and the main character of the "Magistus" story. He is the character version of the card "Crowley, the Magistus of Grimoires", who is named after the real-world Aleister Crowley. His namesake is also mentioned in the original Yu-Gi-Oh! manga.
Personality
Crowley is a young boy who has a cheery and bright outlook on life. Enjoying the use of magic, Crowley has an open mind of about what magic can do, and what can be achieved with it compared to Endymion, who had a stricter view on of magic. While Crowley can be somewhat rash and optimistic, especially when focused on his research or being excited at the thought of fighting powerful magic users, Spoon describes Crowley as one with no grudges against the world. This outlook was caused by Crowley's relationship with his adoptive grandfather, a retired scholar who raised him, did not judge or shun Crowley for his magic, and advised Crowley that if magic users do good, then those with magic may be seen in a better light.
Abilities
Despite being young, Crowley is a very talented and powerful magic user that who holds the rank of Magistus. Crowley's magic and research study lies in the summoning of 'otherworldly' spirits from different worlds, which he dubbed "Invocation".
He is sensitive to disturbances in magic power, and is capable of tracking down where the disruption lies at. With his sensitivity to magic power, Crowley is capable of determining and differing his world's magic power and another realm's magic power. Crowley is also skilled in making magic circles which can absorb magic power and use be used for later, though his magic circles explode if Crowley absorbs too much magic power. Also, if misused, Crowley can unintentionally Fuse smaller spirits of another world into a powerful threat that can withstand even Endymion and Rilliona's attacks.
Alongside Rilliona, Endymion, and Zoroa, Crowley can also summon his own Guardian from another world: Aiwass

Crowley was considered to have gotten a good upbringing and that he grew into an honest young man with no grudges against the world. The fact that he was raised by an individual open to magic, meant he grew up not being shunned for his magical abilities, which was commonly seen as a cause for worry in the world. Crowley's grandfather taught him that special powers depend entirely on their wielder and can be used for both good and evil. So he felt it was important for spellcasters such as Crowley to work for the good of the people, so that they might one day look differently upon them. When his grandfather died, Crowley was brought to Graybeard, which was a haven for spellcasters.
One day, Crowley, accompanied by Korozo, climbed up a rock formation onto a plateau with a flowery meadow. Crowley made a note that he must remember the place. He could significantly feel the flow of magic power and decided to gather it to create some impressive magic. He drew a symbol onto a piece of paper and lets let it blow away. Afterwards Afterward, magic power gathered in a circle around it. However , too much magic power was drawn together, which caused an explosion-like reaction. The effects were felt elsewhere as it interfered with Endymion's magic-power-crystalization experiment.
Crowley and Rilliona were both scolded by Endymion later for each interfering with his experiments. Shortly after, Crowley questioned if the others had felt that the flow of magic power has had become much more unstable recently. He explained that he was studying "invocation summoning magic"; and that he follows the path of magic power that flows into this world and summons forth spirits from another world. He theorized that there are two types of magic power; one that forms from life energy and one that flows into this world from another. However , Endymion thought the ideas of another world and summoning spirits were ridiculous. Crowley tried to argue that such spirits were real, citing Korozo as an example, which Endymion dismisses as being an imaginary animal. Zoroa and Spoon were more open-minded to Crowley's ideas and the importance of investigating all fields of magic. However , Crowley fell asleep at this point.
The next day Crowley was awoken by Coroza who noticed some strange magic power. Accompanied by Endymion and Rilliona, Crowley traced the source of the abnormal magic power to a dried -up spring in the forest. Crowley suspected the magic power was from another world and attempted to contain it with a magical circle. However , this caused the tadpole-like shapes within the magic power to fuse together and form a spirit summoned from another world. Crowley was happy to have his theories proven right, but the spirit proceed proceeded to attack them. Attempts to fight back were futile until Koroza absorbed all the other-world magic power, causing the other spirit to disappear and Koroza to change shape. Koroza reverted to their normal form shortly afterwards afterward and collapsed into Crowley's hands.
Events that transpired eventually resulted in Crowley, Endymion, Rilliona, and Zoroa all becoming Magistus. However , Zoroa betrayed the others, causing them to engage in battle.
