It debuted in Starter Box: Theatrical Release in the OCG, Legend of Blue Eyes White Dragon in the TCG, and Deck Mod Pack: Hyperspeed Rush Road!! in Rush Duel. |japanese=爬虫類=Overview==As the name suggests, the Reptile Type mostly depicts reptilian monsters of all kinds, either realistic or fantastical, from lizards and snakes like "Razor Lizard" and "Black Mamba", to curious creepy crawlers like "Worm Rakuyeh" and "Granadora". Due to the nature of serpents as revered and/or feared figures in a number of mythologies and religions, cards based on those figures also appear as Reptiles, such as "Evil Dragon Ananta", "Reptilianne Vaskii", and "Urubonus, the Avatar of Malice". A majority of Reptiles are either LIGHT or DARK, although they have members in all six primary Attributes in the game.|furiganaMany Reptile cards focus upon weakening the opponent instead of strengthening themselves, limiting the opponent's possible actions and winning the game over the course of a few turns. A famous example of this strategy is found in "Vennominaga the Deity of Poisonous Snakes", which, while difficult to get onto the field, is invulnerable to all other card effects and can revive itself if destroyed by battle, and provides one of the game's few alternate win conditions. This tactic is also supported later with the release of the Snake cards, which focus on weakening the opponent's monsters. A certain subset of Reptile support also play around the concept of Reptiles being stepping stones to go into Dinosaur monsters, such as the "Evolution Pill" and "Evol" themes. Due to the potential of the support Spell Snake Rain, many future Reptile themes and support also encourage filling the GY to the brim with Reptile monsters.  ==Themes==はちゅうるい {| romaji style= Hachūrui"width:100%" | english style= Reptile"width:50%" | | french = ==TCG/OCG===* Alien* Attribute Reptile* Evoltile* Gigo* Ogdoadic* Reptilianne ;Mixed* Ragnaraika* Venom* Worm | german style= Reptil"vertical-align:top" | | italian = Rettile==Rush Duel===* Chameleon* Cosmic Urban Legend* Secret Investigator  | korean = 파충류족==Anime/manga-only===* Alligator* Snake|portuguese} ==Appearance in media=Réptil | spanish = Reptil}}{{Infobox/Archetype/The following characters use Reptile monsters across the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise.  {| list style= List of Reptile-Type monsters"width:100%" | support list style= List of Reptile"vertical-Type support cardsalign:top" |===Manga=== ;[[Yu-Gi-Oh! Reptile (Japanese: 爬虫類 Hachūrui; Chinese: 爬蟲類族 Páchónglèizú) monsters were once one of the most overlooked and undersupported types, their only real use previously being Tribute fodder for "Ultra Evolution Pill". However, with the release of the "Alien" and "Venom" archetypes, Reptiles have come into their own as a Type that focuses on controlling the opponent with the use of Counters. Many Reptiles focus upon weakening the opponent instead of strengthening themselves, often leaving the opponent powerless. Because of this, ReptileYu-Gi-Oh! GO RUSH!! (manga)|Yu-Gi-based decks and archetypes focus on tactics that reward patience and strategy over simplicity and brute force. The most brutal example of this is found in "Vennominaga the Deity of Poisonous SnakesOh! GO RUSH!!", which, while difficult to get onto the field, brought near-invincibility as well as one of the game's few '* Automatic Win3 Meters Alien conditions.
Later on, the | style="width:50%" |===Anime===;Yu-Gi-Oh!* ReptilianneGansley" archetype was introduced, taking a new spin on the control concept by replacing Counters with various effects that drop opposing monsters straight to 0 ATK, then using other effects to remove or even take control of those monsters.
Reptile members of the ";WormYu-Gi-Oh! GX* Thelonious Viper" archetype were later added, this time focusing on flip effects which affect the enemies.
Reptiles gain no boost from any Field Spell Card; however, Aliens do get a helping hand from "Otherworld Yu-Gi- The "A" ZoneOh! 5D's" , while Venoms benefit from "* Venom SwampMisty Tredwell".
Archetypes include ";AlienYu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V", "* Lopez", "Worm", "Reptilianne" and "Alligator".
The strongest Reptiles in terms of original ATK are ";Gogiga GagagigoYu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS"/"Gagagigo the Risen", both at 2950 ATK. Other notable Reptiles are "Sinister Serpent", "Balloon Lizard", "Reptilianne Vaskii", "Granadora", "Serpentine Princess", "Evil Dragon Ananta" ", "Cosmic Fortress Gol'Gar", "Vennominon the King of Poisonous Snakes", "Vennominaga the Deity of Poisonous Snakes" and "'* Earthbound Immortal CcarayhuaGavin Sogetsu". In addition, one of the * Legendary PlanetBooster Page monsters, "* The Tyrant NeptuneYuga Goha" is a Reptile.

They all depict either a generic lizard, or "Molting Escape" and "Alien BrainKagetokage".
