==Major EventsSummary==* Using a Atem tells Yugi that this is his ace in the hole and his most powerful servant - the "Card of SanctityDark Magician", while as everyone watches, Mokubaadmits he'd forgotten Atem still had "Dark Magician" and Yugi thinks that "Dark Magician"is a powerful ally but the most dangerous foe, though he can't win if he doesn't defeat it. (In the dub, Atem tells Yugi that he may have defeated the Silent Magician LV0Egyptian Gods, but defeating " combinationDark Magician" will be his true test, and Mokuba comments that Yugi makes both players draw 5 cards and boosts 's up against his most famous monster, suggesting they should have sold tickets to the Duel, while Yugi thinks that he never thought this day would come, but he needs a strategy to wipe out "Dark Magician". It's power the only way he can win this Duel and set the Pharaoh free.) Yugi declares his turn and draws from his depleted Deck, then Summons "a monster face-down. He notes to himself that "Dark Magician " has 2800 ATK due to the Equip Magic Card "Dark MagicianBook of Secret Arts" , and "he doesn't have a monster that can destroy it right now (in the dub, Yugi knows that somewhere in his Deck, there's a card that can beat "Dark Magician Girl "). He changes "Dark Magician GirlCurse of Dragon"to Defense Position and ends his turn.* Thanks to Tristan worries that all Yugi can do is strengthen his defenses, but Joey states that isn't necessarily the case, betting Yugi's face-down monster will give Atem trouble. Atem dwells on the monster, remembering Yugi Tribute Summoning "Summoned Skull"by sacrificing "Witch of the Black Forest", which allowed him to add "Gold SarcophagusMarshmallon" from his Deck to his hand. He's sure Yugi Set "Marshmallon" and notes that when Marshmallon is attacked while in face-down Defense Position, it inflicts 1000 damage to the opponent and also can't be destroyed by battle. Atemonly has 700 life points left, so if he attacks it, he'll lose the Duel. He smiles, thinking that his partner's final move strategy won't work on him (resurrecting in the dub, he has another plan in mind). <div style = float:right></div>Declaring his turn, Atem draws and then activates the Sky Dragoncard he drew, the Magic Card" with "Monster RebornThousand Knives". As the knives materialize alongside "Dark Magician", Marik notes that the Pharaoh keeps drawing exactly what he needs at the right time, while Ishizu believes the Pharaoh to be like a Dueling god now (in the dub, Ishizu thinks that the Pharaoh is controlling his Deck with his will) . Atem explains that when "Dark Magician" is thwartedon his side of the field, "Thousand Knives" will destroy one monster Yugi controls, and he chooses Yugi's face-down monster. The "Thousand Knives" are blasted at the face-down monster, destroying it and revealing its specter - "Marshmallon". Yugi attacks gasps his monster's name and Atem directly reminds Yugi that its effect won't activate if destroyed while face-down. Then he orders "Dark Magician" to attack "Curse of Dragon" with "Silent Dark Magic Attack", destroying "Curse of Dragon" in a fiery explosion. Everyone gasps, Téa calling Yugi's name and Tristan pointing out to Joey that all of Yugi's monsters have been destroyed rather than giving him the advantage, while Solomon cheers his grandson on. Mokuba calls "big brother" and Kaiba gasps that Atem turned the Duel around in an instant, admitting that "Dark Magician LV5" is dangerous. (In the dub, Tristan sarcastically asks Joey what happened to Yugi's big strategy, and Solomon insists Yugi will pull through, urging them to win watch. Mokuba wonders how, and Kaiba admits it won't be easy, but there is a way out of this mess, though the only question is if Yugi has the cards and the guts to pull it off.)  Yugi admits to himself that his other self and the "Dark Magician" are truly strong, and wonders if there's a weakness in their powerful bond. Atem tells Yugi that it's his turn, and Yugi declares his turn and draws. (In the dub, Yugi tells Atem that "Dark Magician" is strong, but he's not invincible. Atem suggests they see Yugi take him down, and Yugi states that he will.) Yugi Summons "Blockman" in Defense Position, then he Sets a card and ends his turn. Atem declares his turn (in the dub he admits he was expecting more) and activates the DuelMagic Card "Dark Spear", transforming "Dark Magician's" staff into a green lance. Atem/explains that while "Dark Spear" is equipped to "Dark Magician" it can inflict damage when attacking a Defense Position monster whose DEF is lower than the PharaohATK of "Dark Magician". Yugi grits his teeth and Atem declares he's spirit coming, ordering "Dark Magician" to attack "Blockman". "Dark Magician" charges, but Yugi activates a Trap Card, "Soul Shield", causing an energy bubble to surround "Blockman" and stop "Dark Spear", red lightning sparking at the point of contact. "Dark Magician" is finally free!*Despite being sad forced back and Yugi explains that by paying half his Life Points, the effect of "Soul Shield" negated the Pharaoh battle and ended Atem's Battle Phase. His Life Points fall to 400 as he declares the attack of "Dark Magician" didn't reach him, and Atemends his turn (in the dub, he tells Yugi that was well executed). Joey sighs with relief and Tristan comments that Yugi survived again, but Duke points out that Yugi only has 400 Life Points left. PharaohBakura adds that Atem only has 700 Life Points, and Solomon agrees that the Duel could ends next time either Duelist attacks successfully, while Joey thinks that he advised Téa to watch until the end, but now even he doesn't feel like watching, admitting to leave them foreverhimself that it's tough that Yugi and Atem have to Duel one another (Bakura, Solomon, and Joey's statements are cut from the dub.)  Yugi declares his turn and Atem notes that Yugi's planning something (in the dub, Yugi states that it's time to send "Dark Magician" packing) as he draws. Yugi looks at his friends wish him the best of luck card, thinking that he has to take a risk (in the Spirit Worlddub, he thinks it's just what he needs). ThenHe activates the Magic Card, "Gold Sarcophagus", and a large double of the Millennium ItemsPuzzle box fall down appears on the field. Atem repeats the card's name to himself as Yugi chooses a card from his Deck and placing it into "Gold Sarcophagus", and if Atem activates the same card, its effect will be negated. A holographic card appears inside "Gold Sarcophagus" and the lid slides shut as Joey wonders what card Yugi put in the "Sarcophagus", and Téa and Tristan both recognize the box as the same one where Yugi kept the Millennium Puzzle. Téa notes that it's what brought Yugi and the other Yugi together, a chasm box of friendship. (In the dub, Téa asks the others what card they think Yugi put in there, and Tristan admits he doesn't know, but wonders what the chances are sealed foreverthat the Pharaoh will play the same card. Téa notes that the box on "Gold Sarcophagus" looks just like the one the Millennium Puzzle came from, so the same symbol that brought Yugi and the Pharaoh together might split them apart.) *Yugi knows activates the "Deconstruction" effect of "Blockman", and "Blockman" divides into its component pieces as Yugi explains that since two turns have passed since he played it, "Blockman" splits into two monsters. Then he sacrifices both of them, thinking that he and 'll use this monster to destroy "Dark Magician". He tells his monster to come forth - "Gandora the Dragon of Destruction". Téa gasps and Joey recognizes the monster (in the dub, Joey admits that wasn't bad). Atemgasps its name (in the dub, he asks Yugi since when has he had that card). Téa remember "Gandora" - the same monster Yugi used to beat Yami Bakura in the World of Memories . She remembers "Gandora" destroying all of Yami Bakura's monsters, believing this has signified Yugi will never truly be apartpart ways with the other Yugi (in the sub, she believes that since "Gandora" proved Yugi could Duel on his own, and thus is able it's the perfect monster to cope defeat the Pharaoh with ). Yugi explains that "Gandora" can only remain on the field for one turn (adding in the dub that it's all he'll need) but states that he can pay half his closest friend Life Points to remove every monster on the field from play. Yugi's Life Points fall to 200 as he activates the "Boundless Giga Rays" effect of "Gandora", but as the red energy rays lance across the field, Atem activates a Trap Card, "Dark Illusion", and partner leaving"Dark Magician" vanishes before the rays can strike. And Yugi gasps as they say, "Gandora" explodes and Atem explains that the effect of "Dark Illusion" protected "Dark Magician" from card effects that turn. "Dark Magician" reappears and Yugi gasps that even "Gandora" couldnThe end t defeat "Dark Magician". Atem explains that the effect of one adventure "Dark Illusion" also allows Yugi to draw a card, and he tells him to do so. Yugi draws, then Sets both the cards in his hand face-down - both a Magic and Trap Card - and ends his turn. Tristan gasps that Yugi has no monsters again while Mokuba gasps to Kaiba that this is bad and Yugi will lose for sure now, prompting a grunt from his brother. Marik comments that Yugi really is just a vessel and can't defeat the beginning of anotherPharaoh. Ishizu says Yugi's name desperately, and Atem thinks to himself that his partner hasn'"t lost his fighting spirit yet.(In the dub, Kaiba responds to Mokuba, claiming Yugi hasn't necessarily lost yet, given that anything could still happen given how the Duel has already gone.Marik, Ishizu and Atem's thoughts are cut).

Atem declares his turn and draws, then orders "Dark Magician" to attack Yugi directly. "Dark Magician" lunges, and Yugi activates a Trap Card, "Magician's Circle", causing "Dark Magician" to stop with a gasp. Yugi explains that when he's attacked by a Spellcaster-Type monster, "Magician's Circle" allows him to Special Summon a Spellcaster-Type monster from his Deck. Atem notes that it's an anti-"Dark Magician" card, and just as he had expected, Yugi was ready for his strategy. Yugi Summons "Silent Magician LV0", but "Magician's Circle" also allows Atem to Special Summon a Spellcaster-Type monster from his own depleted Deck, so he Summons "Dark Magician Girl". "Dark Magician Girl" appears, exchanging a nod with "Dark Magician", and Atem continues the battle, ordering "Dark Magician" to attack "Silent Magician". "Dark Magician" leaps into the air and Marik gasps that Yugi's monster only has 1000 ATK, while Tristan yells that he'll lose (in the dub, Marik is the one to state Yugi will lose, and Tristan protests this can't be the end). Everyone watches in horror as "Dark Magician" charges towards "Silent Magician", but Yugi thinks that it' not over yet he's not done yet, as he promised to defeat him in this Duel (in the dub, Yugi also thinks that he has to win the Duel for the Pharaoh's spirit to be free). He activates his Magic Card, "Spell Textbook", and the "Dark Spear" stops centimeters from "Silent Magician's" face as Yugi explains that he can discard his hand to draw a card, and activate it immediately if it's a Magic Card. Since his hand is empty, he has nothing to discard, so he prepares to draw, thinking that this card will determine their destiny.
==Summary==He's drawn "Card of Sanctity", which he activates, making them both draw until they're each holding six cards in their hands. Atem grimaces as they draw their cards, and then the effect of "Silent Magician" activates, increasing its ATK by 500 for each card the Atem drew. Atem gasps - he's drawn five cards, so "Silent Magician" increases to LV5 and 3500 ATK. Yugi declares that the attack of "Dark Magician" will continue, and as "Dark Magician" reluctantly hefts the "Dark Spear", Kaiba declares that it has 2800 ATK, and Atem has 700 LP, so Yugi will win if the Battle Phase continues. But "Dark Magician Girl" turns to Atem and nods, and he nods back, then activates a Quick-Play Magic Card from his hand, "Magicians Unite". Everyone watches in shock as Atem explains that since he has at least two Spellcaster-Type monsters on his field, he can treat the two as one monster with 3000 ATK. With 3000 ATK, "Dark Magician" and "Dark Magician Girl" exchange nods and charge together, striking "Silent Magician" with their combined magic, but "Silent Magician" opens her eyes and repels them with her own magic, destroying both "Dark Magician" and "Dark Magician Girl" and reducing Atem to 200 Life Points.  Everyone can only watch, speechless, as Atem tells Yugi that was impressive. Although he was able to save his Life Points, Yugi destroyed his trump card, "Dark Magician". They both have 200 Life Points left and their backs are against the wall, so the end is near. As everyone else watches in anticipation, Atem comments that Yugi's use of "Card of Sanctity" turned this Duel around, but now it will allow Atem to turn the tables, as it gave Atem the card to end this Duel. (In the dub, Atem declares that this will be his final turn. Yugi has fought bravely, but unfortunately, this Duel will end with Atem's victory. He thanks Yugi, knowing Yugi tried everything in his power to set him free). He activates the Magic Card "Monster Reborn" from his hand to resurrect "Slifer the Sky Dragon", and a twister emerges from the ground, clearing to reveal the serpentine red dragon. Everyone watching gasps, Tristan crying "What?!" and Joey asking if "Slifer" has shown up now (in the dub Joey cries that just brought back an Egyptian God). As "Slifer" coils behind him, Atem reminds them that "Slifer" gains 1000 ATK for steps each card in his hand, so with four cards in his hand, "Slifer" has 4000 ATK. "Slifer" breathes steam and Atem thinks to Yugi that he's won. (In the dub, Atem muses that his spirit will remain in this world, so he and Yugi aren't ready to separate.) [[Yami File:DM224-Yugi-reveals-Monster-Reborn-in-Gold-Sarcophagus.png|right|thumb|250px|Yugireveals "Monster Reborn" from "Gold Sarcophagus".] ]But Yugi's eyes are closed, and he thinks that he knew his other self was going to do that - if he were Atem, he would have summoned an Egyptian God, too (in the dub, his statements are reversed). "Gold Sarcophagus" begins to glow and lowers to the ground, and Atem gasps as Yugi breaks the seal on "Gold Sarcophagus" (in the dub, Yugi claims the card he hid inside it is the card Atem just played). The lid of the "Sarcophagus" begins to slide open and Joey gasps that the card is coming out as Kaiba and Mokuba approach the field (in the dub, Joey protests that it's impossible, as there's only one "Slifer the Sky Dragon".) The card finishes emerging from the box and the glow around it fades - revealing "Monster Reborn". Atem's eyes widen in surprise as he thinks its name, as Yugi tells him that the effect of Atem's "Monster Reborn" is negated since Yugi put his own in "Gold Sarcophagus", negating the Special Summon of "Slifer". As "Slifer" fades away into smoke, Mokuba gasps that it's disappearing (in the dub, he exclaims that Yugi just defeated "Slifer" for the second time). Joey gasps that "Monster Reborn" could have helped Yugi, and Tristan points out that Yugi decided to seal it away instead (in the dub, Joey wonders how Yugi knew which card to put in "Gold Sarcophagus", and Tristan asks what Joey expected, reminding him that Yugi is the King of Games). Ishizu realizes that Yugi is sending Atem a message - the souls of the dead should not remain in the world of the living, and this will be a requiem for the Pharaoh's soul to travel to the afterlife. (Ishizu's observations are cut from the dub. Téa believes Yugi Mutomust have had this move planned from the beginning, realizing Yugi would have known exactly what Atem would play after spending so much time with him.)  Smiling, Atem closes his eyes, thinking that his partner knew what his trump card would be and has surpassed him (in the dub, he thinks that this was the greatest Duel of his life, and it's been an honor. Then he tells Yugi that it's his move). Yugi's hands tremble and Duke states that Atem doesn't have any monsters to defend with, Bakura agreeing that the attack of "Silent Magician" will end the Duel (in the dub, Duke wonders what Yugi's waiting for, as all he has to do is attack and the Duel is over. Bakura points out that's it; once the Duel ends, the Pharaoh will be released, and they'll never see him again). Téa thinks Yugi's name sadly as Yugi continues to tremble and Atem thinks to Yugi to do it (in the dub, he thinks that it's all right). With tears in his eyes, Yugi orders "Silent Magician" to attack Atem directly. "Silent Magician" leaps into the air and releases a blast of light from her scepter that strikes Atem, and Yugi closes his eyes as the light suffuses the field, while everyone watches speechless. (In the dub, Duke asks if Yugi won the Duel, and Ishizu states he will have if the attack was successful). The light fades, and Atem straightens as his Life Points fall to zero.  left|thumb|250px|Atem consoles Yugi."Silent Magician", "Gold Sarcophagus" and Atem's DuelDisk all fade and Yugi falls to his knees, his tears splashing onto the ground as he sobs. Atem walks over to him with a smile and tells him he's lost, then kneels by Yugi and puts his hand on his shoulder, telling him to stand up, as the winner shouldn't be on his knees, and Atem wouldn't cry if he were Yugi. (In the dub, Atem congratulates Yugi, then kneels by him and tells him that a champion doesn't belong on his knees, as Yugi achieved a great victory for them both.) Still weeping, Yugi tells Atem that he was always a weakling, looking up to Atem and wanting to be strong like him. Atem tells Yugi that he was never a weakling, but has always had a strength unmatched by anyone: Yami a strength called kindness, and that is what Atem has learned from his partner. He tells Yugi vsthat his courage in accepting the Battle Ritual showed Atem the road he must travel, and they stand up together. Yugi calls Atem his other self again, but Atem tells Yugi that he isn't his other self anymore - Yugi is Yugi, and no-one else it, he is the only Yugi Muto in the world. (In the dub, Yugi sobs that he was focusing so hard on Dueling that he forgot what winning would actually mean. By defeating Atem, he's sent him away for good. Atem reassures Yugi he has opened the door for him, and thanks to Yugi, Atem's spirit can finally be at rest and he'll be back where he belongs. Atem tells Yugi that fate brought them together for a reason, and they fulfilled their destiny. They protected mankind from the return of the Shadow Games, and they've both grown tremendously along the way. They stand together, and Yugi tells Atem that he'll miss him. Atem tells Yugi they'll never truly be apart. The gift of kindness Yugi has given him, and the gift of courage he's given Yugi will remain with them and forever bind them together.) Yugi resolutely nods. The Eye of Wdjat in the doorway begins to glow and everyone else gasps, Tristan asking what's happening and Joey pointing out the eye on the door. Ishizu explains that now that the Battle Ritual is complete, the Eye of Wdjat that guards the gate to the spirit world has awakened, and the spirit of the great Pharaoh, which was trapped within the Millennium Puzzle for thousands of years, is now free. Atem walks to stand in front of the door, and Joey, Téa and Tristan gasp (in the dub Téa asks if this is it) and Ishizu instructs the soul of the Pharaoh to tell the Eye of Wdjat the name of the Pharaoh. Atem declares his name (in the dub, he also announces himself as the son of King Aknamkanon) and light cracks the middle of the door, the Eye of Wdjat's glow fading as it opens and wind blowing through the light behind the door. The light shines onto Atem's face, and he walks towards the light.  section belowBut Téa, Joey, and Tristan call Yugi's name, sprinting up to the platform, and Atem stops as Yugi too runs in line with the door. Tristan protests that Atem doesn't have to go to the afterlife and begs him not to go (in the dub, Tristan asks if that's how it ends, if Atem thinks he can just show up and change everybody's life and then just leave). He covers his eyes, and Joey and Téa close their eyes to hide their tears, while Yugi wipes his eyes on his sleeve (in the dub, through his tears, Yugi adds that what Tristan means is that they don't want to say goodbye). Téa calls Atem the other Yugi, but then corrects herself to use Atem, stating that she understands his home is on the other side of that light, but for them it will be the barrier that separates them. Tears flow down Téa's cheeks as she explains that is what she doesn't understand, that their friend will vanish before their eyes after all this time together. (In the dub, Téa agrees with Yugi and admits she knows that walking through that door means Atem's spirit will finally be free, and it's all for the best, but it doesn't seem fair. She feels that they were all just getting to know Atem, and he was just beginning to get to know himself, and now he's being taken away from them. She knows she should be happy for him, but it's hard to do that when you're losing your best friend, and you don't understand why it has to be that way.)

Featured Duel: Yugi Muto vs. Atem
Yugi Sets a monster. Yugi changes "Curse of Dragon" to Defense Position.
<u>Turn 21: Pharaoh Atem</u><br />
Atem draws "Thousand Knives". As Atem controls "Dark Magician", he activates the Magic Card "Thousand Knives", destroying one monster his opponent controls. He destroy Yugi's face-down "Marshmallon". "Dark Magician" attacks and destroys "Curse of Dragon".
<u>Turn 22: Yugi Muto</u><br />
Yugi Normal Summons "Blockman" (1000/1500) in Defense Position. Yugi Sets a card.
<u>Turn 23: Pharaoh Atem</u><br />
Atem draws "Dark Spear". Atem activates the Equip Magic Card "Dark Spear", equipping it to a "Dark Magician". He equips it to "Dark Magician". The effect of "Dark Spear" allows Atem to inflict the difference between the ATK of the equipped monster and the DEF of a Defense Position monster it attacks as battle damage to Yugi's Life Points. "Dark Magician" attacks "Blockman", but Yugi activates his Set Trap Card "Soul Shield", paying half his Life Points (Yugi: 800 → 400 LP) to negate the destruction of a monster by battle and end the Battle Phase. He negates the destruction of "Blockman".
<u>Turn 24: Yugi Muto</u><br />
Yugi activates the Magic Card "Gold Sarcophagus", removing a card from his Deck from play face-down. If Atem activates or Summons a card of the same name, Yugi can negate the activation or Summon of that card by revealing the card he removed. He removes "Monster Reborn". Yugi activates the effect of "Blockman", Tributing it to Special Summon a number of "Block Tokens" in Defense Position equal to the number of turns that "Blockman" has been face-up on his side of the field, but they cannot declare an attack. "Blockman" has been face-up on Yugi's side of the field for two turns, so Yugi Special Summons two "Block Tokens" (1000/1500). Yugi Tributes his two "Block Tokens" to Tribute Summon "Gandora the Dragon of Destruction" (0/0) in Attack Position. Yugi activates the effect of "Gandora", paying half his Life Points (Yugi Muto: 400 → 200 LP) to remove all monsters on the field from play, but Atem activates his face-down Trap Card "Dark Illusion", making Yugi draw a card and preventing one "Dark Magician" he controls from being affected by monster effects or destroyed by battle until the End Phase. The effect of "Gandora" sends itself to the Graveyard. Yugi Sets two cards.
<u>Turn 25: Pharaoh Atem</u><br />
"Dark Magician" attacks Yugi directly, but as Atem's Spellcaster-Type monster attacked, Yugi activates his face-down Trap Card "Magician's Circle", allowing each player to Special Summon a Spellcaster-Type monster from their Deck. Yugi Special Summons "Silent Magician LV0" (1000/1000) in Attack Position and Atem Special Summons "Dark Magician Girl" (2000/1700) in Attack Position. A replay occurs, and "Dark Magician" attacks "Silent Magician LV0", but Yugi activates his face-down Quick-Play Magic Card "Spell Textbook", discarding all cards in his hand, shuffling his Deck, and drawing a card, and if it is a Magic Card, Yugi can activate it immediately. Yugi has no cards in his hand, so he shuffles his Deck and draws and activates the Magic Card "Card of Sanctity", making both players draw cards until they have six cards in their hand. Yugi draws six cards, and Atem draws five cards. The effect "Silent Magician LV0" activates as Atem drew a card, increasing its LV by one and its ATK by 500 for each card Atem drew ("Silent Magician LV0" → "Silent Magician LV5": 1000 → 3500/1000). As Atem controls two or more Spellcaster-Type monsters, he activates the Quick-Play Magic Card "Magicians Unite", treating two Spellcaster-Type monsters he controls as one monster with 3000 ATK. He chooses "Dark Magician" and "Dark Magician Girl". The attack continues and "Silent Magician LV5" destroys "Dark Magician" and "Dark Magician Girl" (Atem: 700 → 200 LP).
Atem activates the Magic Card "Monster Reborn", selecting a monster in either player's Graveyard and Special Summoning it. He Special Summons "Slifer the Sky Dragon" from his Graveyard (X000/X000) in Attack Position. The effect of "Slifer" would increase its ATK and DEF by 1000 for each card in Atem's hand, and Atem has four cards in his hand ("Slifer the Sky Dragon": X000 → 4000/X000 → 4000), but Yugi activates the effect of "Gold Sarcophagus" as Atem activated a card with the same name as the card Yugi removed to activate it, revealing the "Monster Reborn" he removed to negate the activation of Atem's "Monster Reborn" and prevent "Slifer the Sky Dragon" from being Special Summoned.
<u>Turn 26: Yugi Muto</u><br />
"Silent Magician LV5" attacks Atem directly (Atem: 200 → 0 LP).
