"Chaos" (カオス Kaosu) is an a very large archetype of monsters that encompasses multiple subarchetypes characterized by their Summoning method and/or their particular subarchetype strings. However, support only affects disjoint subsets of monsters: namely, the Ritual "Chaos" Monsters, the Synchro "Chaos" Monsters, and the two "monstersC that thematically combine " subarchetypes. Several cards in this archetype, especially "LIGHTChaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End " and "DARKBlack Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning. It received its first support ", are of historic significance in official tournaments, actually belong to the Chaos series of Dimensions Movie Packmonsters that focuses on both LIGHT and DARKattributes together without using "Chaos"-specific support.
Due to their Japanese names, several cards, such as The "Chaos"Ritual Monsters are primarily based on monsters used by Morphing Jar #2Yugi Muto", "and Yellow Luster ShieldSeto Kaiba. Due to its Japanese name, all "Black Luster Soldier" monsters are also "Chaos" monsters, so in the TCG, as well as all support for "Chaos" Ritual Monsters always also supports "Black Luster Soldier" Ritual Monsters. "Black Luster Soldier", "CXyz" and "Number C" monsters, are part of this is also an archetype. Converselyon its own, with cards such as specifically supporting "Dark Magician of Chaos" and Black Luster Soldier"Envoy regardless of Chaos" are not part of this archetype, as their OCG names do card type and not contain 「カオス」. However, since support for this archetype only works on Ritual Monsters and, in the TCG, supports the other "Black Luster SoldierChaos" archetype as well, neither case is an issueRitual Monsters.
Some members of this archetype appears as characters in some video-games:* "Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the BeginningThe " appears in World Championship 2006* "Chaos Sorcerer" appears in World Championship 2006 and in Synchro Monsters are associated with the World Championship 2010;* "Elemental Hero Chaos Neos" appears in World Championship 2008;* "Chaosrider Gustaph" appears in World Championship 2011;* "Phantom of Chaos" appears in World Championship 2010 and in World Championship 2011;* Both "cards, which are Black Luster SoldierLIGHT" and "Contrast HERO Chaos" appears in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel ArenaDARKmonsters associated with banishing.
==History==The most recognized cards in the archetype include:* Due to their Japanese names, "Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the EndCXyz"* and "Black Luster Soldier Number C" are also sub- Envoy archetypes of "Chaos". They are collectively referred as the Beginning]]"* "C"cards.
"Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy A handful of the Endearlier monsters such as " was the first of this trio to be sent to the ForbiddenKamionwizard list, in " and "September 2004Morphing Jar #2, known as one " are also part ofthis archetype due to their Japanese names. Conversely, if not several monsters with "Chaos" in their theTCG most names, such as "broken card Dark Magician of all time. The card was particularly infamous for its role in the Yata-Garasu LockdownChaos, a very deadly " and "brokenEnvoy of Chaos Deck with the power to use just two cards to absolutely lockdown the opponent", making it impossible for them are not part of this archetype since their Japanese names don't contain 「カオス」. As they do not belong to play or even see a single one of their cards for the rest supported subsets of the "Chaos" monsters, and there is no generic support for all potential members, there are no monsters that need an Duelarchetype conditionbecause of this archetype.
==Members=====Ritual Chaos===All of the "Chaos" Ritual Monsters are upgraded Ritual "Chaos" forms of iconic signature monsters used by Yugi Muto ("Dark Magician" and "Gaia The Fierce Knight") and Seto Kaiba ("Blue-Eyes White Dragon").All "Chaos" Ritual Monsters released after the introduction of "ChaosForm" still continued to dominate specify it as the metagameRitual Spell for their Ritual Summon. "Chaos Form" also supports the next 12 months. The year 2005 saw a "Chaos Phoenix" Deck using Ritual Monsters that predate its release, including the "Black Luster Soldier " (OCG: "Chaos Soldier") Ritual Monsters.{| class="wikitable" style="text- Envoy of the Beginningalign:center"! The next 12 months saw ===Synchro Chaos==="Chaos" Synchro monsters are all LIGHT or DARK monsters, and (with the emergence exception of the strongest "Archfiend" Metagame since ) have effects that support LIGHT/DARK monsters and banishing; this loosely ties them to the playstyle of the LIGHT and DARK Chaos series. This style A sub-series of "Chaos" Synchro Monsters can be distinguished by having a consistent naming pattern: In the Japanese OCG, they each have a two-part name, with the first part being a non-Japanese name consisting of "Chaos" (Japanese: 「カオス」) followed by a title after an interpunct, and the second part being a kanji name enclosed in dashes, consisting of "of Chaos" revolved around (Japanese: 「混沌の」) followed by a title.Members of the themed "Chaos Sorcerer"Synchro Monster sub-series all feature a black/white/gold color palette.{| class="wikitable mw-collapsible autocollapse" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; border: none; text-align: center" |+ Themed Chaos Synchro Sub-series! ===The "C" archetype===There are also two subarchetypes of "Chaos" ideal was left untouched until the release of Force of the BreakerXyz Monsters, where namely the "ChaosNumber C" era was reborn with and the "Sky ScourgesCXyz"archetypes. Many, two monsters whose effects were based on "Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy but not all of these cards also have the Endword " and Chaos"Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of in their name strings in the Beginning", with a third that was able to "choose" between TCG and repeat the effects of string「カオス」 in Japanese. "Jinzo" or "Spell CancellerC". Neither cards are usually counterparts of the new "Chaos" replacements made much their base forms, but are one rank higher, require one more Monster to Xyz Summon by overlaying monsters of an impactrespective levels, and have long since been condemned to the unused can be alternatively Xyz Summoned through a Card PoolRank-Up on account of their Summoning Conditions being unworkable and situational. More recently, a Deck based around "Sky Scourge Norleras" and "Phantom of Chaos" has been seeing more play after it topped a regional (September)card.
There is one "Chaos" saw a return with "Chaos Sorcerer" being Xyz monster belonging to neither subarchetype: this is Semi-LimitedNumber iC1000: Numerounius Numerounia in . It is also the OCGs September 2009 Lists and respective ace monster for both the use of "Dark Armed DragonNumber C" and "Judgment Dragon". However, "Chaos Sorcerer" was back to being Limited in the OCGs March 2010 Lists. In the September 2010 ListsNumeron, "Chaos Sorcerer" was back again archetypes yet not actually belonging to Semi-Limited. "Chaos Sorcerer" has been Unlimited in the March 2011 Lists. However, it was back this archetype due to Limited again in the September 2012 Lists. In a slight alteration with the following September 2011 Lists, "Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning" was Limited after 6 years of being Forbiddenname.
A new Synchro ====Support====Archetype-specific support Monster, cards that specifically have "Number C" (Japanese: 「CNo.」) or "Chaos GoddessCXyz", was released (Japanese: 「CX」) in their name strings. These cards are also supported by The Shining DarknessRank-Upcards. It is capable Many of these cards which support one or both of Summoning the "C" archetypes also belong to the "LevelRank-Up-Magic 5 or higher DARK monsters to the field by discarding a LIGHT monster from the hand. However, the fact that it requires a LIGHT Tuner and two non-Tuner DARK monsters makes it tricky to get out" archetype.
A museum scene in the Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL anime features an exhibit including the No card "supports a Chaos End Ruler - Ruler of the Beginning and the End", whose effect partially merges and upgrades that of both "Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of Xyz Monster through the Beginning" and term "Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End". Needless to say, its effect is significantly more powerful and broken than any other card. Given that the card was not even played in the anime and only displayed, it is not expected to ever be released and was likely intended as merely a cameo or referenceXyz Monster.
==Playing style=Other "Chaos" cards===This build focuses on milling the Deck The first card to belong to use "Lightsworn" monsters and Summon "Judgment Dragon" while at the same time placing DARK monsters in the archetype, GraveyardKamionwizard in order to Summon "Dark Armed Dragon". Since the milling effect can place vital (Japanese: 「カオス・ウィザード」), along with many other well-known Chaos monsters in the Graveyard, the build also makes use of Graveyard control cards such as "Monster Reincarnation" and "Necro Gardna" to make sure that the required cards end up in the hand and Graveyard. With the high amounts of DARK and LIGHT monsters being sent to the Graveyard, "Chaos SorcererEmperor Dragon" can work very well in this Deck, as can are not supported by the "Chaos Necromancer" due to the number of cards that are always being dumpedarchetype. "As a result, no Tragoediaarchetype condition" is another important monster for the Deck, offering protection from OTKs, versatility as a Synchro Material Monster and the potential to become a huge beatstick, provided that the player has enough cards in required if their handlocalized names contain "Chaos".
