Pierre the Gambler, known in Japan as Mitsuo (ミツオ, Mitsuo) is Alexis Rhodes' childhood classmate and a world famous gambler, having mastered games from blackjack to poker. In primary school, Pierre would play games of chance with other students, always having them bet their prized possessions. After losing a game of Duel Monsters to Alexis, he steals her red hankerchief, which had been bet on the Duel. Years later, he duels Alexis at Duel Academy but loses. In the end, it is revealed he actually has a crush on Alexis and returns the handkerchief to her. However, Alexis does not return these feelings and Pierre then leaves with Jaden Yuki trying to bid him farewell in the right way.

Appearances
In Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Tag Force, Pierre appears as an opponent during the Tag Force tournament, teaming with Blair Flannigan. After completing the game, he appears during part one at the pier, and can be selected as a partner, though the player must call his coin toss correctly. He is referred to simply as "The Gambler", with his in-game profile being the only place where his real name, Pierre, appears.

Pierre plays a Coin Toss Deck. By combining "Second Coin Toss" with the ability of cards such as "Gamble Angel Bunny" and "Sand Gambler", Pierre is able to decrease the possibility of calling a coin incorrectly, thereby causing the favorable effects of his cards to trigger. If "Second Coin Toss" is destroyed, he opts not to take the risk of activating his cards' effects.

In the original version, Mitsuo traveled to Duel Academy due to hearing a rumor about the clash between the Seven Stars and the chosen guardians to prevent the three Phantasms' revival. He was resentful of not being chosen as a guardian despite his skill at cards and boldly approached the Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor about enlisting. Samejima feigned ignorance, and when Mitsuo refused to leave, Asuka entered and challenged him, wagering her key for his most prized possession.

During the flashback section, Asuka said he transferred into their class with the smile of an angel, which the next day became the sneer of a devil. Coming from a wealthy family, he could keep gambling as many times as he wanted until he finally won. After stealing the scarf, he transferred to another school, so Asuka couldn't get it back. Mitsuo also insists on his title "the Boy" whenever Asuka calls him Mitsuo, and when he loses, he bemoans that he'll no longer win the gambles he takes without his good luck charm, but accepts his defeat with grace and gives it back to Asuka regardless.

In the dub, Pierre traveled to Duel Academy in deliberate pursuit of Alexis, the only one who had ever defeated him, and bothered the Chancellor about bringing her to him. During the flashback, Alexis talks about how they had been like family in sixth grade and Pierre had repaid them poorly with his high-stakes gambling. She also deliberately rejects his feelings at the end, which Pierre sadly accepts.

Yu-Gi-Oh! GXEdit

In primary school, Pierre would play games of chance with other students, always having them bet their prized possessions. After losing a game of Duel Monsters to Alexis, he steals the red handkerchief she had bet on the Duel, a birthday present from her mother. He claimed that the scarf had been a good luck charm for him ever since.

Years later, he arrives at Duel Academy where he asks Chancellor Sheppard and Vellian Crowler to let him duel Alexis. When they turned him down, he ended up taking out the Duel Academy security team that Chancellor Sheppard summoned until Alexis arrives agreeing to the duel. He finally duels with Alexis, the latter scorning him for his thoughtless all-or-nothing gambling, and winning due to strategy. In the end, it is revealed he actually has a crush on Alexis and returns the handkerchief to her. However, Alexis does not return these feelings and Pierre then leaves with Jaden Yuki trying to bid him farewell in the right way.

Differences in AdaptationsEdit

Non-canon appearancesEdit

Pierre, in the Tag Force series

Pierre appears in the first three Tag Force games as an opponent and possible partner.

Voices and mannerismsEdit

Pierre speaks with a French accent in the English dub. In the Japanese version, his nickname is "boy", and he seems to intensely dislike being called "Mitsuo".

In the European Spanish version, he has the nickname "el tahúr" (which refers to professional gambling or a person whose job is being a gambler).

DeckEdit

Gamble DeckEdit

True to his name and hobby, Pierre uses a Deck based on chance, namely involving coin tosses, which predominantly implement "Second Coin Toss" as his main Deck impetus.

Childhood DeckEdit

The only card shown from the Deck he used in primary school was "The Snake Hair".
