This card's effect can be activated by special summoning it face-down with the effect of "Apprentice Magician", that way if they attack it, you can add a "Book of Spell" card to your hand, or if they have already attacked with all their monsters, you can Flip Summon "Magical Calligrapher Batel" on your turn.
