- This monster may be a male counterpart to "Alien Mother". Both monsters are Level 6 and Dark Attribute. There is a 100 point difference in both their Attack and Defense. "Alien Overlord" has a darker version of "Alien Mother's" color scheme.
- This monster appears to be a more powerful version of "Alien Warrior". This makes sense, since "Alien Warrior" creates two A-Counters, while Alien Overlord consumes two A-Counters.
- This card heavily resembles several tyranids from the Warhammer 40,000 franchise.
