In the original printed card it says to discard from the hand, while in the first erreta it says to discard 1 card.
There was a question on yahoo answer regarding this card. His brother discarded a spell or trap card from it's spell and trap card zone to activated lightning vortex, his brother argued that it is legal because it doesn't specifiy from where to discard.
Is it legal to discard from anywhere, if it doesn't specify from where to discard ,or discarding one card is always from the hand?96.44.92.186 (talk) 15:34, July 6, 2012 (UTC)

- Discard - I think this will answer your question. But to summarize, discarding is ONLY possible from the hand. You can't "discard" from the field, it's not possible. And Spatial Collapse doesn't make you "discard" anything. It just limits the field to 5 cards per player. If a player happened to have more than 5 cards with Spatial Collapse active, they'd have to send cards to the graveyard (which is in no way, a discard.) The rulebook, version 8, page 47:
- "Discard means to send a card from your hand to the Graveyard".
