In the anime, Dox Summoned this card against Yugi and Joey in Duelist Kingdom. He then equipped it with Invigoration and destroyed Yugi's Celtic Guardian. When Yugi activated Magical Hats, Para Summoned Monster Tamer to raise Dungeon Worm's ATK even higher to 2800, more than the Dark Magician. Joey countered by releasing Flame Swordsman and equipping it with Salamandra, raising its ATK to 2500, still lower than that of Dungeon Worm, but since the Worm is vulnerable to fire, it lost its ATK boost from Monster Tamer, allowing Flame Swordsman to destroy it. In the manga, Dungeon Worm instead had the effect of gaining a ten percent attack increase each time it destroyed a monster.
