- The monster effect "If this card is destroyed by battle, banish it instead of sending it to the Graveyard" is not an Ignition Effect, Trigger Effect, Quick Effect, or Continuous Effect.[1]
- The monster effect "If a card effect would send this card to the Graveyard from the hand or Deck, banish it instead" is not an Ignition Effect, Trigger Effect, Quick Effect, or Continuous Effect.[1]
- The monster effect "If a card effect would send this card to the Graveyard from the hand or Deck, banish it instead" does not apply if "Destiny HERO - Departed" is sent from the hand or Deck to the Graveyard as a cost to activate a card effect, and it is sent to the Graveyard as normal.[1]
Previously Official Rulings
These TCG rulings were issued by Upper Deck Entertainment and have since been declared unofficial by Konami.[2] They were previously considered official and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules, or unless Konami has issued a ruling that says otherwise. - When "Destiny Hero - Departed" is sent to the Graveyard to pay a cost, it is not removed from play.
- "Destiny Hero - Departed's" first effect is a Trigger Effect. It is not optional.
- "Destiny Hero - Departed's" effect is not activated while "King Tiger Wanghu" is face-up on the field because an infinite loop would result. If "Destiny Hero - Departed's" ATK would become greater than 1400 when Special Summoned, because of another card's effect, it is Special Summoned.
