Card Rulings:Forgotten Temple of the Deep
TCG Rulings
- You can activate the effect to remove a monster from play on either player's turn. It targets that monster. Special Summoning the monster does not target.[1]
- If you take control of your opponent's monster and remove it from play, it returns to your side of the field during your End Phase.[1]
- "Royal Decree" will negate the effect to treat this card's name as "Umi."[1]
- The effect to remove a monster from play is Spell Speed 2 and can be activated during either player's turn. It starts a Chain.[1]
- If you remove 1 monster from play on your opponent's turn and another during your turn, both will be Special Summoned during the End Phase. They are Special Summoned at the same time, so if you only have 1 open Monster Card Zone you choose 1 monster to Special Summon and the other goes to the Graveyard.[1]
- The effect to Special Summon starts a Chain.[1]
- If you control this card and "A Legendary Ocean" you can send either to the Graveyard to activate the effect of "Codarus."[1]
Mentions in Other Rulings
- Codarus: If you control "A Legendary Ocean" and "Forgotten Temple of the Deep" you only need to send 1 of them to the Graveyard to activate its effect.
OCG Rulings
- The effect of "Forgotten Temple of the Deep" which removes from play a monster from your side of the field can also be activated during the opponent's turn.[2][3] This is a Spell Speed 2 effect which starts a Chain Link.[3]
- The effect of "Forgotten Temple of the Deep" which removes from play a monster from your side of the field targets one Level 4 or lower Fish-, Sea Serpent-, or Aqua-Type monster that is face-up on your side of the field.[2]
- The effect of "Forgotten Temple of the Deep" which Special Summons the removed from play monster is an effect which activates during the End Phase. It is not resolved as part of the effect which removes from play the monster.[2][4]
- The effect of "Forgotten Temple of the Deep" which Special Summons the removed from play monster does not target.[2]
- If you gain control of an opponent's monster and remove it from play with the effect of "Forgotten Temple of the Deep", then during the End Phase the removed-from-play monster is Special Summoned to your side of the field by the effect of "Forgotten Temple of the Deep".[5]
- If "Forgotten Temple of the Deep" is negated by "Royal Decree" or "Trap Stun", then its effect to treat it as "Umi" will be negated, so that the name of "Forgotten Temple of the Deep" will not be treated as "Umi".[6]
Mentions in Other Rulings
- You can also send to the Graveyard "A Legendary Ocean" or a "Forgotten Temple of the Deep" which has its effect active as a cost to activate the effect of "Codarus".[7]
- If you control multiple cards like "A Legendary Ocean" and "Forgotten Temple of the Deep" that are all treated as "Umi", then you can activate the effect of "Codarus" or "Levia-Dragon - Daedalus" or "Ocean Dragon Lord - Neo-Daedalus" by only sending one of those cards to the Graveyard; you do not send all of them.[8]
