- This card can be searched by "Serpentine Princess", "Vampire Dragon", "Where Arf Thou?", "One for One", "Wolf in Sheep's Clothing", "Mystic Tomato", "Super Solar Nutrient", "Lonefire Blossom", "Botanical Girl", "Violet Witch" and another "Evil Thorn".
- Special Summon one "Evil Thorn" from your hand using "Seed of Deception". Then use the effect of "Evil Thorn" to Tribute it and Special Summon two more. Then you can Tribute the two new "Evil Thorns" to Tribute Summon a high-Level Monster.
- You can do the same with "One for One".
- Use "Pot of Avarice" to recycle 2 "Evil Thorns" when they are in the Graveyard, and combo the Gemini Summoned effect of "Gigaplant" to re-Summon the third and re-use its effect.
- This card its a good target for "Super Solar Nutrient": first summon your "Evil Thorn" and use its effect to Summon the other copies, then use "Super Solar Nutrient" to Special Summon "Lonefire Blossom", then just Tribute the "Evil Thorn" left with the effect of "Lonefire Blossom" in order to Summon a powerful monster.
- This card makes it easy to use "Mark of the Rose" since there are normally 3 copies of each of these cards inside a deck if you play both cards.
- Tribute "Evil Thorn" to inflict damage to your opponent, then overlay the two "Evil Thorns" Summoned into a Rank 1 Xyz.
