- This is the cover card from Soul of the Duelist and Dark Revelation 3 (right).
- In Egyptian mythology, Horus was the god of the sky and the son of Osiris and Isis. The sun and moon were believed to be his eyes. He was sometimes known as Khemwar, meaning 'the great black one'.
- "Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV8" has a DARK counterpart "Dark Horus".
- Some "Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV8" cards have a small misprint in their card text. They read, "This card cannot be Special Summmoned except...". There are three m's instead of just 2.
- "Sorcerer of Dark Magic" is the trap counter part.
- "Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV8" appears in the Artwork of "Level Up!"
