This card is based off of Abe no Seimei, a real-world specialist of onmyōdō during the Heian Period in Japan. In fact, this card's name "Meisei" is an anagram of "Seimei".

This monster has two special cards that are designed to be used with him - the "Talisman of Spell Sealing" and the "Talisman of Trap Sealing", and he also appears on their artworks. The two cards allow you to disable your opponent from using Spell or Trap Cards, but only one at a time (due to their conflicting effects).

The rhyming phrase "His history is a mystery" in this card's description may be a joke.
