We only have 2 copies of Bottomless and because we don't live together, I'm currently holding onto them. Otherwise I'd tell her to drop in the Bottomless over Gemini but it just seemed a better idea than a standard Trap Hole. I'll be pulling Starstrike Blasts over the next few weeks to try and get a couple of Formula Synchrons to put in one of my other decks, so if I get a glow-up bulb I may give it to her. If I get two, I'll definitely give her one. What would you suggest other than gemini/bottomless trap hole?[[User:Leolightman|Leolightman]] 20:49, January 26, 2011 (UTC)

Revision as of 20:49, 26 January 2011

My partner has decided she wants to build a plant deck so we got some cards together and I tried to build a basic deck out of what we own. As I understand it, this would probably be classed as a beatdown or synchro deck and doubling up on certain monsters wouldn't hurt but we don't have much beyond what's listed here so I was hoping for advice so I know what direction to go in when back at my gaming centre.

Thanks all!

I've changed the build a fairly large amount since I originally posted about this, but I'd still welcome any advice people could offer. The extra deck is still being expanded, but there is no chance of either me or my partner getting hold of Brionac or Goyo any time soon, so please don't suggest them for the extra deck. The build I've left below is the intended final build. We're a couple of cards short yet, but it shouldn't take long. I'd like to point out though that I haven't edited in synchros such as Brionac or Goyo because the only Brionac we're planning to get is going into my Ice Barrier deck, and we've not given thought to Goyo yet. Taylor: While I appreciate the suggestion, I was hoping for advice on that build I put together rather than being sent off after an entirely different deck.

Lonefire Blossom is epic, there's a reason it's semi-limited. Definitely run 2. Gigaplant is equally amazing. Run at least 2, I recommend 3. Dandylion: see Lonefire Blossom. Botanical Lion = Epic beatdown. You're not going to find better stats and effect for a level 4 anywhere. Run 3. Rose Tentacles is a Tribute Monster. Plant Tribute monsters, other than Gigaplant and Tytannial (who is fine at 1) are generally bad. Drop both Tentacles. Rose Fairy is pretty much awful. Drop both. Obviously build up the Extra Deck with more than just that. Fragrance Storm isn't very effective, unless you are running Black Garden Control, which you are not. You can get away with 1 if you run 2 Dandylion, but there are better options. Seed of Deception is pretty much useless. The World Tree and Miracle Fertilizer are highly underrated cards, double up on one or both. Lightning Vortex and Fissure are not needed, especially with 3 Wall of Thorns. MST should always be at 2 before you run Dust Tornado. Book should be run at at least 2, or not at all, but I recommend 2 or 3. Always run Mirror Force. Always. Plant Food Chain should be run at 1 or not at all. Ultimate Offering is absolutely not needed. Since you have Dandylion, you can get away with running 1 Pollinosis, but definitely run Solemn first. Other staple Traps like Bottomless, Compulse, D Prison, etc. should also be added. I hope this helps! Good luck! Lappyzard (talkcontribs) 00:26, December 23, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks Lappyzard! I took your advice and modified the deck. She doesn't own all those cards yet but I'm sure we can get them easily enough :) Are there any extra deck suggestions you could make?

Honestly I'd just say add the usual: Brionac, Goyo, Trish, a second BRD, possibly even a third, Scrap Archfiend, Magical Android, AOJ Catastor, RDA, Colossal Fighter, anything good. Copy Plant looks like your main Tuner, so emphasize the even leveled Synchros, but with 2 Dandy you definitely don't want to ignore the others. And I really recommend a third Gigaplant; it's just that awesome. If you don't have one, get it. Lappyzard (talkcontribs) 20:06, December 23, 2010 (UTC)

That sounds great Lappyzard, but she's on a pretty tight budget so things like Catastor, Goyo and Brionac are out of the question. Pretty much if it exceeds 10 GBP on eBay, we can't trade for it or afford it (obviously that applies only to synchros since she can't survive without a good main deck end of discussion) which is quite annoying since I'd happily have run Goyo, Trish, Brionac and Catastor myself if I had them. We have 2 BRD between us, but we're using one each so I suppose we'll have to get to collecting more haha. We also have a Magical Android and a Colossal Fighter but those plus the RDA are in my two decks interchangeably since she doesn't have anyone to duel except me whilst I have a gaming centre near my university I frequent. Ah, if there's any, I suppose the most appropriate term is "budget" synchros could you please suggest them? If I got lucky enough to find cards worth trading for those considerably broken Synchros I definitely would though.

Some cheap ones should be Gaia Knight, the Force of Earth, Flamvell Uruquizas, Iron Chain Dragon, X-Saber Urbellum,-Resk (talkcontribs) 20:35, December 23, 2010 (UTC)

How perfect! Thanks Resk :) Circumstances led to me owning roughly 5 Gaia Knight, the Force of Earth haha. BRD, Colossal Fighter and RDA are pretty much givens for the deck I take it? Shouldnt be difficult to find more of them :) And I'm sure we have 2 X-Saber Urbellums hanging around.

I'm sorry User:Ancientgearking

-1 Plant Food Chain, -1 Fragrance Storm, +1 Gigaplant, +1 Botanical Lion Lappyzard (talkcontribs) 19:04, January 23, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks Lappyzard. I think she ordered another Botanical but we'll have to see about a third Gigaplant. Leolightman 19:06, January 23, 2011 (UTC)

I would say add in a A.O.J. Castator.--112.94.64.9 (talk) 19:08, January 23, 2011 (UTC)

We would get Catastor, but in the same vein as Brionac and Goyo which are both powerful but expensive to get hold of. And truth be told, if we had one, I'd nick it :PLeolightman 19:10, January 23, 2011 (UTC)
