Card Rulings:Chimeratech Rampage Dragon
OCG Rulings
- Since the Fusion Summon of Chimeratech Rampage Dragon must be performed using the written materials, you cannot Fusion Summon it with Instant Fusion.[1]
- The first effect of this card is a Trigger Effect. (It targets the Spell/Trap Cards on the field to destroy.)[1]
- The second effect of this card is an Ignition Effect. (It does not target. Sending 2 LIGHT Machine-Type monsters from your Deck to the Graveyard is part of the effect’s resolution.)[1]
- If you send 2 monsters to the Graveyard with this effect, this card can attack 2 additional times as well as its normal attack. (You can attack monsters or directly if the opponent does not control any monsters.)[1]
Q&A Rulings
- Q: Can the second effect of "Chimeratech Rampage Dragon" be activated during the first turn of the Duel, or during Main Phase 2?
- A: Since this effect of "Chimeratech Rampage Dragon" also sends 2 LIGHT Machine-Type monsters from your Deck to the Graveyard, it is possible to activate it during the first turn of the Duel or during Main Phase 2.[2]
- Q: Can "Chimeratech Rampage Dragon" be Special Summoned by the effect of "Cyber-Stein"?
- A: To Fusion Summon "Chimeratech Rampage Dragon", you must use the correct Fusion Material monsters. However, since the effect of "Cyber-Stein" is not considered a Fusion Summon, you can Special Summon "Chimeratech Rampage Dragon".[3]
- Q: Is "Toon Cyber Dragon" treated as "Cyber Dragon"?
- A: "Toon Cyber Dragon" is not treated as "Cyber Dragon". However, since it is treated as a “Cyber Dragon” monster, it can be Special Summoned by the effect of "Cyber Dragon Core" or used as a Fusion Material for "Chimeratech Rampage Dragon".[4]
- Q: If "Cyber Dragon", "Cyber Dragon Zwei", and "Proto-Cyber Dragon" are used as Fusion Material monsters for the Fusion Summon of "Chimeratech Rampage Dragon", how do I determine the number of Spell/Trap Cards I can destroy?
- A: When "Chimeratech Rampage Dragon" is Fusion Summoned, if you want to activate its effect, you must be able to target a number of Spell/Trap Cards on the field up to the number of Fusion Materials used (in this case, 1 to 3). If you activate the effect, it is not possible to target 0 cards to destroy. (You must target at least 1 card.)[5]
- Q: "Cyber Dragon" and "Cyber Dragon Core" are used as Fusion Material monsters for the Fusion Summon of "Chimeratech Rampage Dragon". If I activate its first effect of "Chimeratech Rampage Dragon", but my opponent chains "D.D. Crow" and banishes that "Cyber Dragon" from my Graveyard, how does the effect of "Chimeratech Rampage Dragon" resolve?
- A: In this case, the effect of "Chimeratech Rampage Dragon" resolves normally. (Any Spell/Trap Card that was targeted is destroyed.)[6]
- Q: If "Super Polymerization" is activated as Chain Link 2, and Fusion Summon "Chimeratech Rampage Dragon" with it, can I activate the first effect of "Chimeratech Rampage Dragon"?
- A: You cannot.[7]
- Q: While "Macro Cosmos" is applying, if I Fusion Summon "Chimeratech Rampage Dragon" so that the Fusion Material monsters are banished instead of being sent to the Graveyard, can I still activate the first effect of "Chimeratech Rampage Dragon"?
- A: Even in this case, you can activate the first effect of "Chimeratech Rampage Dragon". (Target the number of Spell/Trap Cards you want, and destroy them.)[8]
- Q: I activate the second effect of "Chimeratech Rampage Dragon", sending "Cyber Dragon" and "Cyber Dragon Drei" to the Graveyard. Then, my opponent activates "D.D. Crow" and banishes that "Cyber Dragon" from the Graveyard. What happens to the number of attacks that "Chimeratech Rampage Dragon" can make?
- A: When the effect of "Chimeratech Rampage Dragon" resolves, and sends 2 monsters to the Graveyard, the number of additional attacks it can perform is determined (for a total of 3, in this example.) In this case, even if one of the monsters sent to the Graveyard is banished from the Graveyard by "D.D. Crow", the number of attacks "Chimeratech Rampage Dragon" can make does not change.[9]
- Q: While the effect of "Zombie World" is applying, I activate the second effect of "Chimeratech Rampage Dragon", sending "Cyber Dragon Core" and "Electromagnetic Turtle" to the Graveyard. In this case, how many additional attacks can "Chimeratech Rampage Dragon" make?
- A: Even while the effect of "Zombie World" is applying, making all monsters on the field and Graveyard Zombie-Types, you can still send up to 2 Machine-Type monsters from your Deck to the Graveyard. Therefore, if you send 2 monsters to the Graveyard when resolving this effect of "Chimeratech Rampage Dragon", it will gain 2 additional attacks (for a total of 3).[10]
- Q: If I activate the second effect of "Chimeratech Rampage Dragon", but "Macro Cosmos" is chained, how does the effect of "Chimeratech Rampage Dragon" resolve?
- A: In this case, the LIGHT Machine-Type monsters you select from your Deck are banished instead of being sent to the Graveyard, and "Chimeratech Rampage Dragon" can only perform its 1 normal attack. The result will be the same if the effect of "Chimeratech Rampage Dragon" is activated while Macro Cosmos is already applying.[11]
- Q: If the second effect of "Chimeratech Rampage Dragon" is activated, but "Book of Moon" is chained, changing "Chimeratech Rampage Dragon" to face-down Defense Position, how does its effect resolve?
- A: When resolving this effect, even if "Chimeratech Rampage Dragon" is face-down, the effect is applied normally. After applying the effect, if "Chimeratech Rampage Dragon" is flipped face-up again, it will still be able to make additional attacks equal to the number of LIGHT Machine-Type monsters sent to the Graveyard. However, note that if "Book of Moon" is activated after the effect of "Chimeratech Rampage Dragon" has been applied, and "Chimeratech Rampage Dragon" is changed to face-down Defense Position, its effect will no longer apply and it will only be able to attack once.[12]
