Q&A Rulings
- Q: When activating "Crossout Designator", can I declare "Harpie Lady"?
- A: If you have a "Harpy Lady" in your Deck, you can declare "Harpie Lady" with "Crossout Designator". After the effect is applied, effects such as the effect of "Harpie Lady 1" that increases the ATK of all WIND monsters by 300 are negated.[2]
- Q: If I activate "Crossout Designator" by declaring "Monster Reborn", but my opponent chains "Imperial Iron Wall", what happens?
- A: In this scenario, "Crossout Designator" resolves while the effect of "Imperial Iron Wall" that prevents players from banishing cards is applying. In that case, you cannot apply the part of the effect that banishes a card with the declared name from your Deck, so it ("Monster Reborn" in this situation) remains in your Deck, and the effects of "Monster Reborn" are not negated this turn. Also, if the effect of "Imperial Iron Wall" is already applying, "Crossout Designator" cannot be activated.[3]
- Q: My opponent activated "Crossout Designator" by declaring "Inspector Boarder", and banished an "Inspector Boarder" from their Deck. During this turn, if I activate "Forbidden Lance" targeting an "Inspector Boarder" on my field, what happens?
- A: In this scenario, if the effect of "Forbidden Lance" is applied to "Inspector Boarder", that "Inspector Boarder" becomes unaffected by the effect of "Crossout Designator", so its effect that limits players from activating monster effects will be applied again.[4]
- Q: When I activate the effect of "Maxx "C"" in my hand, my opponent chains "Crossout Designator" and declares "Maxx "C"". If I chain my own "Crossout Designator", can I declare "Crossout Designator"?
- A: When declaring a card name to activate "Crossout Designator", you can declare "Crossout Designator". In this scenario, the effect of the "Crossout Designator" you activated banishes another copy of "Crossout Designator" from your Deck. The effect of the "Crossout Designator" your opponent activated is negated, so your opponent does not banish a "Maxx "C"" from their Deck. As a result, the effect of your "Maxx "C"" is applied normally.[5]
- Q: The effect of a "Spellbook of Power" that I activated this turn, targeting a "High Priestess of Prophecy" in my Monster Zone, is applying. During the Battle Phase of this turn, if "Crossout Designator" is activated by declaring "Spellbook of Power", what happens?
- A: In this scenario, since the effect of "Spellbook of Power" already resolved, even if the effect of "Crossout Designator" is applied, "High Priestess of Prophecy" will still gain 1000 ATK. During the Battle Phase, if "High Priestess of Prophecy" destroys an opponent's monster by battle, the effect of "Spellbook of Power" that adds a "Spellbook" Spell Card from your Deck to your hand can be activated, but the activated effect is negated by the effect of "Crossout Designator".[6][7]
