OCG Rulings
- The effect that Special Summons this card from the hand or Graveyard is an Ignition Effect that activates in the hand or Graveyard.[1]
- This effect targets 1 face-up “F.A.” monster in your Monster Zone whose current Level is higher than its original Level.[1]
- Special Summoning this card, reducing the targeted monster’s Level, and changing this card’s Level all happen simultaneously.[1]
- The effect of this card that adds an “F.A.” Field Spell Card from your Deck to your hand is a Trigger Effect. (It does not target. You can activate it during the Damage Step.)[1]
Q&A Rulings
- Q: I activate the effect of "F.A. Auto Navigator", targeting "F.A. Sonic Meister" whose Level is 7 on my field. If my opponent chains "Compulsory Evacuation Device" and returns that "F.A. Sonic Meister" to the hand, how does the effect of "F.A. Auto Navigator" resolve?
- A: In this scenario, if the targeted “F.A.” monster is no longer on the field when the effect of "F.A. Auto Navigator" resolves, "F.A. Auto Navigator" is Special Summoned normally, but you cannot reduce the targeted monster’s Level to its original value, so the Level of "F.A. Auto Navigator" does not change.[2]
- Q: "F.A. City Grand Prix" is face-up in my Field Zone, and my "F.A. Hang On Mach" is Level 6 due to its effect. In this situation, if I activate the effect of "F.A. Auto Navigator" targeting that "F.A. Hang On Mach", what happens to each of their Levels?
- A: When "F.A. Auto Navigator" is Special Summoned by its own effect, it immediately reduces the targeted monster’s Level by the difference between its original and current Levels, and its own Level becomes equal to the reduced amount. In this scenario, the Level of "F.A. Hang On Mach" is reduced by 2 and becomes 4, and "F.A. Auto Navigator" becomes Level 2. At this time, there is no further increase in Levels due to the effect of "F.A. City Grand Prix". Furthermore, if you proceed to your End Phase, the effect of "F.A. City Grand Prix" stops applying to "F.A. Hang On Mach", so its Level is further reduced by 2. (Thereafter, when you enter the Main Phase of the next turn, the effect is applied again, so "F.A. Hang On Mach" and "F.A. Auto Navigator" both increase their Levels by 2.)[3]
- Q: I activate the effect of "F.A. Auto Navigator", targeting "F.A. Hang On Mach" whose Level is 7 on my field. As a result, "F.A. Hang On Mach" becomes Level 4, and the Special Summoned "F.A. Auto Navigator" becomes Level 3. If "Skill Drain" is activated after that and the effects of the 2 monsters are negated, what happens to their Levels?
- A: If "Skill Drain" is activated after "F.A. Auto Navigator" was Special Summoned by its own effect, the reduction to the targeted monster’s Level ("F.A. Hang On Mach" in this scenario) remains applied, but "F.A. Auto Navigator" returns to its original Level of 1.[4]
