OCG Rulings
Q&A Rulings
- Q: Can "Hero Blast" be activated if the opponent does not control any face-up monsters?
- A: "Hero Blast" can be activated even if the opponent does not control any face-up monsters. ("Hero Blast" is an effect that targets an "Elemental HERO" Normal Monster in your Graveyard.)[1]
- Q: If "D.D. Crow" is chained to the activation of "Hero Blast" so that at the time of its resolution the targeted "Elemental HERO" Normal Monster in your Graveyard cannot be added to the hand, is the part of the effect that destroys a monster the opponent controls still applied?
- A: If "D.D. Crow" is chained to the activation of "Hero Blast" so that at the time of its resolution the targeted "Elemental HERO" Normal Monster in your Graveyard cannot be added to the hand, the part of the effect that destroys a monster the opponent controls cannot be applied.[2]
- Q: The only monster on my opponent's field is a face-up "Trickstar Lycoris". In this situation, I activate "Hero Blast" targeting an "Elemental HERO Neos" in my Graveyard. In this case, when resolving the effect of "Hero Blast", will the effect of my opponent's "Trickstar Lycoris" that inflicts 200 damage each time I add a card to my hand be applied?
- A: In this scenario, when "Hero Blast" resolves, the targeted "Elemental HERO Neos" in your Graveyard is added to your hand, and then your opponent's "Trickstar Lycoris" is destroyed, so its effect that inflicts damage cannot be applied.[3]
Previously Official Rulings
These TCG rulings were issued by Upper Deck Entertainment and have since been declared unofficial by Konami.[4] They were previously considered official and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules, or unless Konami has issued a ruling that says otherwise.
