- This card does not target.[1]
- Banishing 2 monsters face-down that cannot be Normal Summoned/Set from your hand or face-up from your field is the cost to activate this card.[1]
- You can banish Special Summon-only monsters such as "Chaos Sorcerer", as well as Ritual, Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, and/or Link Monsters.[1]
- You cannot activate this card if you have less than 2 cards in your Deck.[1]
Q&A Rulings
- Q: Can I activate "Hypernova Burst" by banishing 2 "Sheep Tokens" on my field?
- A: Tokens are treated as monsters that cannot be Normal Summoned/Set, but they cannot be banished face-down. Therefore, you cannot banish Tokens as the cost to activate "Hypernova Burst".[2][3]
- Q: Can I activate "Hypernova Burst" by banishing 2 copies of "Embodiment of Apophis" that are treated as monsters?
- A: After being Special Summoned by its own effect, "Embodiment of Apophis" is treated as a monster that cannot be Normal Summoned/Set, so you can banish it as the cost to activate "Hypernova Burst". (The effect to draw 2 cards is applied normally.)[4][3]
- Q: A "Dillingerous Dragon" and "Iron Dragon Tiamaton", both Special Summoned by their own effects, are face-up in my Monster Zone. In this situation, can I activate "Hypernova Burst" by banishing those 2 monsters?
- A: "Dillingerous Dragon" is a Link Monster, so it is a monster that cannot be Normal Summoned/Set, but one that was Special Summoned by its own effect will be banished face-up when it leaves the field, and cannot be banished face-down. Therefore, you cannot banish a "Dillingerous Dragon" that was Special Summoned by its own effect as the cost to activate "Hypernova Burst".[5][3]
