Card Rulings talk:Cat's Ear Tribe

If a card were to attack cat's ear tribe while it were in face-up attack position, with attack of say... 1800 or so.

Okay, so in this scenario, would the attacking monster be destroyed along with cat's ear tribe after its ATK were set at 200 during the damage step? Or would cat's ear tribe be destroyed with no damage done to the controller of cat's ear tribe and the attacking monster survive the battle?

Because the reduction of the attacking monster's points should only happen during the damage step, which applies to calculating damage done by the preceding battle to the players' life points, it would stand to reason that the attacking monster is not destroyed.

I would like to hear other opinions on this particular scenario, or an official ruling if it's not listed here.

When they battle/at the damage step, the other monster's attack will be 200. If there are no other factors in the battle (ATK increase/decrease, Destruction Immunity etc.), both monsters will be destroyed. 3-D 23:59, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
