- Kyonshee is a (perhaps intentional) misspelling of "kyonshi", the Japanese term for a jiangshi, a Chinese zombie born when the soul fails to leave the body. It often roams about, killing living creatures to absorb their life force.
- The kanji 呪 on the paper means "curse".
- This card's description as a master martial artist may allude to jiangshi being featured in Chinese martial arts movies, sometimes controlled by an evil Taoist priest.
