Forum:Can i still normal summon after initial normal summon was nagated

i never really had to deal with this due to few cards that stopped summons but here recently more cards have come out that do this. I just assumed that u couldnt attempt another summon since the player still summoned eventhough it was negated, the ruling regarding "Great Shogen Shien"s effect. "an opponent can still activate one more spell/trap card if the first is negated" has made me question this.

The short answer is no, you cannot normal summon again during that turn. The long answer is no because you "attempted" to normal summon that turn and that "attempt" counts towards your one normal summon per turn. There are a couple ways of getting around this though. Cards such as Ultimate Offering can allow you to normal summon more than once per turn.

like i said thats what i figured but if u negate yout opponents spell/trap card with great shogen shien on the field then they get to play another even though they attempted in addition i cant find anything that says negating summons would work as u described. these two controdict each other
