Forum:Crystal Beasts and Chains

Hello everyone. I have three questions to ask, two of which relate to Crystal Beasts, and one of which relates to Chains.

1) I play a Crystal Beast deck, and as any CB player knows, the Spell & Trap Zones tend to get filled pretty quickly. I don't seem to have much of a problem, as I usually have Magna-Slash Dragon or Seismic Crasher on the field. However, the other day, my friend (who was using my deck) discarded a CB from the field to the graveyard to make room for Crystal Abundance. I let the move slide, but I highly doubt it's a legal move. Can someone clarify this?

2) Also relating to Crystal Beasts. Rainbow Dragon's first effect allows you to send all Crystal Beasts you control to the graveyard to have it gain 1000 ATK. Now, does that include CBs in your Spell & Trap Zones? Once again, I'm pretty sure that it doesn't, but I'd like a clarification.

3) Finally, relating to Chains. Cards like Chain Healing or Chain Strike can only be activated as Chain Link (number) or higher. Is there some other condition to activating them, or could I theoretically play Mystical Space Typhoon, then Chain Detonation, then Chain Summoning, then Chain Strike?

Thanks for the help. 24.79.131.140 02:04, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

1. It's not legal. You cannot send a card in your hand or field to the Grave for no reason.
2. The card says "Crystal Beast monsters", so yes they have to be in the Monster Card Zone.
3. If you play a card that can be chained to, first you see if your opponent has a response. If they do, that effect becomes Chain Link 2, and you can respond to it with what will become Chain Link 3. If they have no response, you can then chain your own card, and that becomes Chain Link 2. Note that if they chain with a Counter Trap, you will not be able to use Chain Strike since Counter Traps can only be responded to with Counter Traps. Hope this helps.
