What do you think. I've been dueling a lot with a lot of diffrenet decks and I've wondered: Do you get better at Yugioh from winning your duels or losing your duels? --184.96.216.174 (talk) 00:21, July 27, 2010 (UTC)

  • Neither. You get better by listening to those who are better than you.--YamiWheeler (talkcontribs) 00:23, July 27, 2010 (UTC)

I think Dueling within itself will help you get better. You quickly learn which cards are good in your Deck, and which are not, and then edit it. Then you Duel to see if it was a good choice. Wash, Rinse, and Repeat. Drew-Gi-Oh! (talkcontribs) 01:34, July 27, 2010 (UTC)

YamiWheeler is correct. Research, careful reading of cards (a comma in a card's effect can make or break it.), also goes with the game as with what drewgioh said. having a database of cards in your mind so you know what works with what well. of course this only pertains to those who make original decks and don't netdeck. speaking of netdecking, what is your opinion of the following statement- "Originality aside, generally, those who utilize netdecking tend to be the weaker of duelists among us."

Getting better at yu-gi-oh

If you duel different people you get experience from each duel, this can help you knowledge of yugioh more as well, also ask for tips and advice after each duel you do this can help you in the long run when you duel other people, research can also help as well, with things like new cards coming out that can help out your current deck, research on your current deck to see which cards are crucial and which ones you may get dead draws with or useless in your deck, making a deck can be a hard sometimes you just need to get the right style of deck that you like that's like your playing style as well. You can also get good at yugioh if you practice between your friends, dueling online and learning the rulings etc.

Any card can be a dead draw, mind you. Anyway, for the quote, "Originality aside, something about netedcking people are losers, blah blah blah", You can still copy the concept of a Deck and personalize it, like how many people have their own versions of a Hopeless Dragon, Frog, Monarch, and Gadget Decks. Pertaining to the quote on netdecking: If you like netdecking, then I you're are doing this for one of two reasons. One: All decks you built were horrible because you lost with it, so instead of trying to improve your deck, you copy a winning deck. Two: You are building the winning deck, but you lack the skill to "personalize" that winning deck into your very own unique deck, so you just copy the deck.

Back to winning/ losing to get better at yugioh: Even when you win/lose a lot, can you get better if you take "breaks" away from yugioh then resume back to yugioh, or should you duel 24/7 every moment you get to improve your skill? Or do you only get better at yugioh by winning or losing? --184.96.216.174 (talk) 00:38, July 29, 2010 (UTC)

I Like putting a major spin on Netdecks, well i havent done it myself but my friend added Skull Servants to his zombiesworn synchro deck, although the core was the same the skin was different and it was an awesome running deck. Now onto your question, This goes with anything competitive, I played SSBM competitively for years. It is best to take breaks away from it once in awhile. you can duel 24/7 till your hearts content, but take a break for a week or 2 but keep yourself in the game by just learning and keeping up to date with the metagame. For me, taking breaks helps me forget about bad habits. DestinyWarrior (talkcontribs) 02:12, July 29, 2010 (UTC)

For the new question, the more the do something, the better you'll be at it. Even if you decide to take an interval and not do it for a few months, then come back and start again, I find that you get better, since you will begin to question what you were doing in the first place XD Drew-Gi-Oh! agreed. while it takes a certain skill to be able to create decks from scratch (like a baker who whips up a batch of croissants or scones), its also true that using a deck essentially stolen ("borrowed" if it makes you feel better) from someone else requires some skill to use effectively. this, though true, doesnt fully compensate for the inherent weakness of such duelists. as long as you have fun though, i suppose. just do us all a favor and refrain from the gloating jack-*ss-ery!! no one enjoys being around that. unfortunately, in my experience, it is typically those who netdeck that fall into the j*ck ass category. to them I say, try creating and using your own deck for once!! oh wait, you cant..
