Forum:Hero Signal & Time Machine

This hasn't actually come up in a duel, I'm just curious.

Say for example Stratos is on the field. Gets destroyed by battle and sent to the grave, would it be possible to activate Hero Signal to bring out another Hero, and then assuming the opponent doesn't decide to chain anything extra, chain on Time Machine to bring Stratos back as well? A simple yes or no will work, but if the answer is no I'd happily enjoy some clarification as to why =) I need to get more familiar with how rulings work. I think it'd work because it'd be in the same chain, but equally because they both require the same situation to activate maybe it means one will miss the timing.. Anywho, any help is appreciated =)

yes, you can do that. It even works when your opponent chains something inbetween, it only doesn't have to be a counter trap. -dest- (talkcontribs) 21:07, November 28, 2010 (UTC)

Ah many thanks dest ^^ As I suspected I guess! --Radaeron (talkcontribs) 21:34, November 28, 2010 (UTC)

Also.. on a vaguely similar note.. Say for example the following happens:

Player A summons Stratos and uses the first effect to destroy traps equal to the number of other heroes (let's say 2) Player B activates Torrential Tribute (or as the case may be Player A passes priority, then activates their own TT) Player A then chains Compulsory Evacuation Device and targets Stratos.

Assuming nothing else is added, would the chain resolve like so...?

Stratos is returned to the hand. All monsters that can be destroyed, are destroyed. Stratos' effect destroys 2 spell/trap cards.

Or would it simply stop at Torrential Tribute's effect because Stratos needs to remain on the field to have it's effect applied? I'm unsure because his summon wouldn't have been negated or by extension his effect.

Any help is appreciated =) --Radaeron (talkcontribs) 23:53, November 29, 2010 (UTC)

the chain will resolve like this:

stratos will be returned to the hand -> torrential destroys all monsters left -> stratos' effect resolves (but since there is no elemental hero on the field any longer no card will be destroyed) 77.186.5.37 (talk) 02:42, November 30, 2010 (UTC)

I see, thanks for the answer =) So it counts the number of heroes on the field at the time of resolution instead of activation then. As long as I got a Wildheart or two out there should all be good! hehe. --Radaeron (talkcontribs) 10:21, November 30, 2010 (UTC)
