Forum:Junk Sychron vs Compulsory

Here is the senario: I normal summon Junk Sychron and activates its ability special summoning a level two monster from my graveyard. My opponent immediately actives Cumpulsory Evacuation Device and targets my level two monster. I called priorty and was attempting to special summon Doppelwarrior. My Opponent insists that i cannot special summon Doppelwarrior.

Q1. Can my Opponent activate CED in the middle of my special summoning the level two monster and Doppelwarrior?

Q2. Even though the monster is returned to the hand that was special summoned can i still special summon Dopplewarrior?

Q3. If Doppelwarrion effect is activated when a Monster of an attack of 1500 is special summoned from the graveyard can that monster be Bottemless Trap Hole?

  • Junk Synchron's effect activates either way, because the effect becomes a part of a chain if CED is activated. Even if you called priority or CED was called priority, the chain is still going to resolve and the monster chosen by Junk Synchron is still going to be summoned. CED will then send the monster chosen before the chain back to your hand.

My opinion, but I'm sure it's most accurate.

Greetings!

So, lessee:

Q1. Can my Opponent activate CED in the middle of my special summoning the level two monster and Doppelwarrior?

A: When you succeed on Special Summoning your Level 2 or lower monster, you CAN activate Doppelwarrior's effect. Independently of what your opponent targets with Compulsory (which would be Chain Link 2, and Doppel would be Link 1), you CAN Special Summon Doppelwarrior.

The only way that would prevent you from Special Summoning Doppelwarrior would be that you Special Summoned from your Graveyard during your opponent's turn (with "Call of the Haunted" or similar), and they claimed priority (since it's their turn) to activate a Speed 2 or higher card (like Compulsory). On that case, you couldn't activate Doppel's effect (as he's Speed 1). Other than that odd case, you can almost always Special Summon Doppelwarrior.

Q2. Even though the monster is returned to the hand that was special summoned can i still special summon Dopplewarrior?

A: Yes, you can.

Q3. If Doppelwarrior effect is activated when a Monster of an attack of 1500 is special summoned from the graveyard can that monster be Bottemless Trap Hole?

A: Yes. Remember that Doppelwarrior uses the Chain to be Special Summoned: he activates and resolves. Let's say you Special Summon "Gorz the Emissary of Darkness" with "Monster Reborn". Once the Special Summon is successful, you CAN activate Doppelwarrior's effect, but it's not Summoned immediately and starts a Chain, with Doppel being Link 1. Since the last thing that actually happened was Gorz being SS'd from your Graveyard (as the current Chain still hasn't resolved), "Bottomless Trap Hole" can be activated against him. On that case, BTH would destroy and banish Gorz, then Doppelwarrior would be Special Summoned.

Hope this helps! ShoShinjo (talkcontribs) 18:23, October 1, 2011 (UTC)

Maybe...

Well, I think the only way to prevent Doppelwarrior effect is to "negate" the special summoning. Cards like Compulsary evacuation device don't negate, and thus, it doesn't matter which chain CED is. That "reborned" monster is still "summoned", nonetheless...

Maybe It goes like this.

  • Junk synchron effect activates
 1 "reborned" monster "summoned"
  DoppelWarrior effect activates (Your priority)
Opponent activates CED, Targets -1500 Monster.

-Chain Starts here- Chain 1: DoppelWarrior effect Chain 2: CED

-Resolve- Resolve 1: "Reborned" returns to hand... Resolve 2: "DoppelWarrior special summons...

Make sense because the "reborned" monster's special summoning wasn't negated. It doesn't matter what will CED do. In the end, a monster was special summoned from graveyard and so Doppelwarrior's effect activates.--Coballes19 (talkcontribs) 15:57, October 8, 2011 (UTC)
