Anybody have any thoughts on the new Madolce archetype? I personally think the concept is interesting, but so far they don't seem too powerful, though Madolce Madeleine + Ultimate Offering might have some sort of potential. 99.162.190.109 (talk) 21:27, March 16, 2012 (UTC)

Well, I guess they can counter DD decks, since they go to the deck instead of the graveyard. So far, for me that is, lack of interest due to OOParts. I'm personally excited for those. I've traveled to a lot of places, Europe, Asia, South America, so this really stimulates me when I can say I was there. :D 24.1.143.153 (talk) 04:46, March 17, 2012 (UTC)

They seemed useless until I saw the field spell. Now they don't look too bad, maybe a deck of floaters? Idk.
I doubt they'll be very meta though.

Yeah, I guess they're overshadowed by OOPArts and Magical archetypes, but I guess that at least they seem to have quick searching power to counter the lack of deck-thinning. One problem I see is that you'll need some card like Star Blast if you want to summon Madolce Puddingcess because Madolce don't return to the deck after being tributed... you could activate the field spell immediately after though if you have it in hand. 99.162.190.109 (talk) 11:34, March 17, 2012 (UTC)

Madolce monsters are not very powerful on their own, but they work as some of the best "fodder" monsters in the game. Similar to how Gustos make the best Simourgh decks, Madolce can be the base of any deck that requires discards or constant tributes. This is largely due to (as a previous poster mentioned) the returning effect of their field spell. If you play Madolce with a heavy focus on playing the field, similar to how Gravekeepers work, you can constantly refill your hand with monsters. By mid to late game, you have an average of 10 or more monsters in the graveyard, making Madolce Chateau the single greatest hand filler you could possibly play . This makes it a better "recycling" field then Geartown. Imagine you controlled Brionac (or Hieratic Sun Dragon Overlord), and you played this field spell. And then you chained Spell Reclamation and played Heavy Storm (or another field).

Not selling it for you? Another way to gain massive amounts of hand advantage is to play Madolce like Lightsworns, milling all your monsters into the grave with cards like Magical Merchant. The only difference is you use Magical Stone Excavation instead of Monster Reincarnation, and your entire grave returns to your hand.

Konami, much as we sometimes disagree with its choices, does pay attention to the way the current metagame plays. In a modern competitive duel, no player can reasonably expect their monsters to stay on the field any length of time. That's why Inzectors owe their tier 0 to the "equip from grave" effect and why Wind-Up players can dominate while only running one Hunter in their deck. Madolce is Konami's answer to repeatable field and hand destruction effects, being a defensive version of the loops currently topping the game. 71.101.231.192 (talk) 21:36, March 23, 2012 (UTC)

That's actually a pretty cool idea; instant +10 midgame isn't anything to laugh at. 75.58.122.97 (talk) 22:37, March 23, 2012 (UTC)
It may not quite work that way - it seems to with the current translation but one can't quite be sure. And even if it does, it's not quite as amazing as it sounds. Madolce doesn't have tremendous swarming capabilities and their monsters don't have very high ATK anyway. You'll get a bunch of Madolces back, but it's not exactly an instant advantage.
In short, I'm not inclined to be too enthusiastic about the deck yet. Runer5h (talkcontribs) 23:27, March 23, 2012 (UTC)Runer5h

May be good when used with Guardian Eatos.

True, Madolce do not swarm. However, nearly half of them search for another
Madolce card, and they work very well with Ultimate Offering. What you're missing
is the potential with multiple discard effects. I plan on combining a repeating
Madolce Chateau with Snipe Hunter for near unlimited destruction effects.
If you do want to go the swarm option with Madolce, look into cards like Mirror
Ladybug and Guardian Eatos. Since you wont have any monsters in your grave, you
can special summon Eatos, special summon Ladybug, overlay for Hieratic Sun Dragon
Overlord, tribute all Madolces in your hand, then play Chateau and repeat as you
need to.
Since the Madolce archetype effect activates in the grave, I might try to go a bit
anti-meta and run Skill Drain as well. In this form of the deck, you would
tribute your Madolces for continous S/T effects like Scrubbed Raid instead of for
effect monsters, while using them for boosted beat downs with Madolce Manner and
Chateau (or any Attack Boosting cards). 71.101.231.192 (talk) 01:17, March 24, 2012 (UTC)

The only thing I know is that I might run Madolce monsters (specifically Madolce Butlerusk) in my Malefic deck as a possible tech. I won't have to use Terraforming as much. I dunno, what do you guys think?
