The Big 5 had no other cards on the field except Injection Fairy Lily and the Mist Altar after Jinzo hit the field. Jounouchi could have used Block Attack and then SS'd Flame Swordsman. Destroyed Lily with Jinzo. Direct Attacked leaving Big 5 with 2400. Then Yugi could have brought out Black Magician for the easy win without having to rely on a draw. Conversely, even if Jou's moves remain unchanged, Yugi could have easily SS'd Black Magician next to Girl anyway and still won the game. No F.G.D. No close calls. Nothing. Silly Plot Devices. It's hardly the only time a character has misplayed in the anime - there are loads to choose from. My personal favorite is during Yu-Gi-Oh! - Episode 024 (Face-Off, Part 3), when Kaiba uses "Monster Reborn" to revive the "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" destroyed by "Celtic Guardian" a turn ago. However, because it is Polymerized (that's how "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" worked in that episode), the revived head couldn't attack that turn. Kaiba made up for that turn by threatening to kill himself, which itself became a major plot point about how Yami Yugi can't accept defeat. However, Kaiba had "Negate Attack" in his hand. He should have been able to win anyway. On top of that, by the rules of his Duel Disk, he could have recalled his main monster. Had he done so, he could have revived any of the powerful monsters in his Graveyard ("Swordstalker" being the most powerful), and won the duel simply by attacking.
