Unlike his [[Leo|anime counterpart]], Leo in the manga is quite sadistic and dark as not only seen in his . His appearanceand personality are both wild and malevolent, but when judging by the way he was Dueling enjoyed crushing [[Aria]], he enjoyed defeating him easily winning the Duel, and laughed when his dragon almost killed two people observing in the Duelaudience.

Leo's design is quite similar to almost exactly the same as his anime counterparts counterpart's, except for one noticeable feature. His his facial expression and eyes are , which appear much more wild and malicious, demonstrated by the small pupils and shading.

In the past, Leo and Luna were left by their parents to fend for themselves, and due to . Luna having had a serious illness, she which required large amounts of medicine which were extremely expensivemedicine to treat. To maintain a constant supply of these medicines, Leo and Luna both tried out delved into the world of underground [[Turbo Duel]]s in order to make obtain the necessary money. At first, at first they were a raging success making and made large profits, but they were eventually beaten and . After the loss, Luna became seriously ill , leaving her brother to duel by himself. Being alone made Leo's performance even more patheticsignificantly worse, causing him to lose even more duels which caused angry . Then, when When Leo couldn't take enoughany more, he fell to the floor and cried out , only to look up and see [[Lazar (manga)|Lazar]] holding out the [[Machine Dragon Power Tool]] card, and offering Leo a place as an eliminator in order to fund pay for his sisters sister's medicine funds, to which he acceptstreatment. Leo accepted the offer and took his place in the D1GP.

Yusei later challenges Leo and his sister to a duel in order to find out why they're so mysterious and malicious. As the duel progresses, Leo gains the upperhand, upper hand by swarming the field with his sisters sister's [[Baboon of the Forest (archetype)|Forest]] monsters, as well as summoning his ace , [[Machine Dragon Power Tool]] , and powering it up to 4800 [[ATK]]. Although the duel seemed to be in Leo's favour, he let his anger get the better of him and filled up his [[Spell & Trap Card Zone]] with [[Equip Spell Card]]s and [[Continuous Trap Card]]s, thus wasn't able to set preventing him from Setting the [[Dark Bribe]] in his hand, this . This allowed Yusei to take the win with through a combination of [[Synchro Nova]] and a 7100 ATK [[Gravity Warrior]], causing Leo to losewith 7100 ATK. This defeat just simply angered Leo and his sister before they drove off.

Like his anime counterpart, Leo uses a '''[[Morphtronic]] Deck''', though it uses different members of the [[archetype]]. The Deck also includes some of his sister's cards, so that both Dragons can be Summoned. Those cards can also be treated as "Morphtronics" through the use of "[[Deformerize]]".
