actually use the template in its documentation
The first unnamed parameter accepts a comma separated list of abbreviations. The template then outputs all navboxes, whose name begins with "Template:Characters/" and ends with the abbreviation.
For example {{tlx|Characters|TF04, TF05, TF06}} will cause all three navboxes, {{t|Characters/TF04}}, {{t|Characters/TF05}} and {{t|Characters/TF06}}, to display.: {{Characters|TF04, TF05, TF06}}
