* In the [[Yu-Gi-Oh! (second series anime)|second series anime]] only, this card is supposed to be the embodiment of [[Mako Tsunami]]'s father, indicating that the "[[The Legendary Fisherman]]"'s design was based off of him.
* This card has a physically weaker version that "Deepsea Warrior shares this card's invulnerability to parellels with the following monsters: ~ "[[Torpedo Fish]]"\"[[Spell CardsCannonball Spear Shellfish]] while a card treated as \"[[UmiDeepsea Warrior]]" is on the field (which is - Shares this weaker variantcard's only effect,) first "[[Deepsea WarriorUmi]]"benefit of being unaffected by [[Spell Card]]s. * This card has effects similar to ~ "[[Guardian Kay'est]]"- "Kay'est" is also unaffected by Spell Cards, albeit "Umi" ''does not'' have to be on the field in this case, however, "The Legendary Fisherman" and "Kay'est" are both [[WATER]] monsters.
