*Rafael reveals a deck of [[Guardian]] monsters, which were his sole companions when he was shipwrecked on an island for years as a child, losing his parents, brother, and sister.
**He always kept his cards safe, and his current strategy reflects that bond -- he will pay any cost to keep his monsters out of the Graveyard.
**One of them, [[Guardian Eatos]], was his birthday present just before the wreck.
*During the duel, [[Yami Yugi|Yami]] [[Activate|activates]] "[[The Seal of Orichalcos]]" (after Rafael had placed it in [[Yami Yugi|Yami]]'s hand with "[[Exchange]]" and despite protests by [[Yugi Muto|Yugi]]), forcing him to put their souls at stake. What Yami realizes too late is that he sealed his own fate by playing that card.
