This can be used tactically to [[activate]] [[Card effect|effects]] that only work when a monster is [[send|sent]] to the [[Graveyard]] [[destroyed by battle|by battle]], such as those of "[[Pyramid Turtle]]", "[[Exploder Dragon]]", "[[Dark Necrofear]]", "[[Gigantes]]" or "[[D.D. Warrior Lady]]". The loss to your [[Life Points]] is often worth the [[field advantage]] you gain through those effects. It can also be used with "[[Turbo Booster]]" to destroy monsters.
Sometimes, when a player is faced with overwhelming odds, and defeat is imminent, they will choose to 'die on their own terms' or 'go down fighting' or 'go out with a bang', and will use card effects to inflict fatal burn damage to themselves, or attack a monster with higher attack to diminish their life points to 0. This is often done to spite an opponent, finishing yourself off before they officially do, and to avoid, [[Scoop|Scooping]], which is generally seen as cowardly or a form of 'rage quit'.
