'''Ability''' ({{ruby|能|のう}}{{ruby|力|りょく}} ''Nōryoku'') is a classification of [[Monster Card]]s. Abilities are listed in the same line as a monster's [[Type]], separated by a slash (but are not the only classification that can be listed this way). The Japanese rulebook lists only [[Toon monster|Toon]], [[Spirit monster|Spirit]], [[Union monster|Union]], [[Gemini monster|Gemini]], and [[Flip monster|Flip]] as possible Abilities; other classifications, such as [[Normal Monster|Normal]], [[Effect Monster|Effect]], [[Pendulum Monster|Pendulum]], [[Tuner monster|Tuner]], and [[Special Summon Monster|Special Summon]], are not Abilities.
No card has been printed with multiple abilities. Abilities have only been used on [[Effect Monster]]s, although Gemini monsters and "[[Dragon Spirit of White]]" treat themselves as [[Normal Monster]]s under certain circumstances. As of September 2016, there are no [[Extra Deck]] monsters or [[Pendulum Monster]]s that have abilities. However, "[[Comic Hand]]" can treat any monster as a Toon monster, regardless of its [[card type]] or if it has another ability.
